Guest guest
Lithium orotate is the natural bioavailable form of the ESSENTIAL mineral, lithium. There are no blood draws required, no side effects. It is a great mood stabilizer. Minerall by Kirkman has 1 mg of elemental lithium in its formulation, which is very good. Lithium orotate by Vitamin Research Products contains approx 120 mcg of lithium orotate - the more bioavailable version. Do a search and you will see articles about its effectiveness. It should not cause hair loss. If lithium is very low on the Hair Element test, then it is certainly appropriate to give lithium orotate - start with 1/2 capsule in the am and then add pm and if necessary increase to 120 mcg am and pm. Minerals in general can have a significant impact on mood stability. Good luck --
Guest guest
My son's hair test is super low in lithium, which I understand is not uncommon according to Andy in mercury toxicity. Is it necessary to supplement with this? I read in this thread it is a mood stabilizer, yet my son is pretty even tempered generally for a child on the spectrum, the most tantrums we get are typical types of things if he can't get a toy he wants in the store etc. Is there any harm in not supplementing if the hair test is very low? Is there anything else you can do that will raise lithium levels short of giving the lithium itself? Irene
