More zinc, his weight plus 20mg and make sure he's getting calcium.

Address yeast, which also increases mouthing.

What kind of zinc are you giving? Are you giving probiotics?

My son's PICA has been increasing quite a bit lately. We have changed

his zinc levels to see if that helps. We have tried to put in positive

and/ or negative reinforcers - all to no avail. It is reaching levels

that I consider unsafe. Any suggestions on things I should be

checking? Supplements?

Thanks

My son is 13. He gets 40 mg zinc in the morning and 40 mg in the

evening. We have done some yeast treatments and plan on returning to

them again. He also gets NAC, B12 shots, multi vitamin, cal/mag,

probiotics, enzymes, vit D and I am sure that I have forgot some others.

I had backed off on many of the supplements these last 6 weeks and am

slowly rebuilding.

So far - yeast and possible low levels of ferritin and / or zinc have

been what people suggested. Anything else that we might be missing?

Thanks

Martha

My son has started mouthing a lot lately too. His behavior consists

mostly of chewing and biting his clothes, sometimes his hand. Usually

this is attributable to zinc deficiency at our house. I have upped

his zinc from 50 mg to 70 mg, and he only weighs 31 lbs, this is 20 mg

over what Andy recommends. The zinc does not seem to be helping. He

is on daily anti fungals, and his behavior does not seem to be

otherwise " yeasty " . We have never had chewing like this before when

he has had bad yeast, usually we get sensory seeking behaviors and

giddiness. He has none of this, also his carb cravings are way down.

So I can't think this is yeast. We did have to stop his calcium

supplement recently, as it was making him crazy. We have yet to

reintroduce it. Could this be the cause? Anything else?

Thanks. Irene

usually when yeast gets down parasites take over and  thats what causes

mouthing  because yeast keeps check on parasites.Use wormwood and  cloves it

will go away.

We are going throught the same type of thing- My son was eating the Christmas

tree, leaves from bushes and his all time favorite paper and books. I am about

to lose my mind. It has never been this bad before.

Zinc deficiency does cause this for some kids. At my house, it was

caused by intolerance and yeast overgrowth.

At my house, yeasty behavior changed over time. You can try

increasing the yeast protocol, see if that helps.

It might be the calcium. Certain supps did cause this. But if you

are certain it is not zinc deficiency or yeast, then consider

intolerance to something.
