Re: Difference between DAN protocol and Cutler Protocol

The difference is that DAN's tend to prescribe high doses and use them

infrequently on erratic schedules that do not reflect how long the

chelator lasts in the body. For example I have seen 500mg every other

day. I have seen 250mg three times a day. I have seen many odd dosing

protocols out there from doctors. None of which follow basic

pharmacology. We don't give children elephant doses of aspirin, the

same should apply to chelators, More is not always better. So a DAN

would have you give your child a high dose of dmsa once a week, this

would pull a bunch of metals, but then no further chelator follows to

bind what is left, so it redistributes. You want to reduce the number

of times this happens.

Andy uses doses based upon the weight of the child, not random

guesses, and the chelators are given based upon how long they last in

the body (4 hours, dmsa, 3 hours ala, 8 hours dmps). This provides a

steady blood level of chelator through the entire round. So as to

reduce the amount of times redistribution occurs. So you get one

redistribution per round, not many. He also advises taking vitamins

and minerals all the time and liver support. DAN's often tell you to

stop the minerals on rounds. Usually, people get sick doing that.

I guess that's the simplest way to explain the differences.

Thats awesome information Jan... thanks a lot...

I am going to insist to our DAN to use Andy's protocol, if he says

no, I am going to fire him !!! Oflate I have a feeling, our DAN is

more interested in making sure I come the next visit... he keeps

information from me.

If I buy Andy's book , will I hvae all the information I need to

implement his protocol without the help of a DAN ?

Thanks,

Maya

Hi Maya,

Most DAN docs go with too high a dose (over 1/2 mg/lb) and not often enough

(generally every 8 hrs.). Cutler understands the pharmokinetics and the

half-life of the chelators. Cutler protocol is every 3 hrs during the day (ALA

or ALA and DMSA), every 4 hrs at night (and every 4 hrs.. during the day and

night if using DMSA only), day and night for 3 days " on " and at least as many

" off " . Andy understands that ALA is necessary to get mercury out of the brain,

many DAN! docs don't.

What is the difference between a typical DAN protocol nad Andy's

protocol? Can someone please educate an ignorant mind here.

Thanks,

Maya
