Alpha Ketoglutaric Acid have phenols?

Our DAN prescribed Alpha Ketoglutaric Acid for my boys due to high ammonia.  I

started it yesterday and ever since, they have had flaming red cheeks and chin. 

I give it with No Fenol. 

 

What else could be causing this reaction?  Their ears are not red.  They don't

act any different behaviour wise.  Is this a detox reaction?  Anything else?
