Guest guest
Hey. My name is Vicki. My son will be 6 in a few weeks. He is profoundly affected and carries an Autism diagnosis. We have been very aggressively treating him biomedically for 1 year with astounding results. He seems to respond to everything... GF/CF, allergy intervention, methyl B12, Diflucan, etc. He is finally sleeping a little better (he wakes 2 or 3 times per night as opposed to 30) and he is finally talking a bit more and making progress at school. We recently began IV chelation with EDTA, DMPS and glutathione on a bi weekly basis. His first round, he was wiped out and calm. We were unable to obtain a urine sample that first time b/c he fell asleep. 2nd round he was more hyper. 3rd time was Monday... he is totally bananas, his hair is falling out in clumps. I have to follow him everywhere... he refuses to keep his clothes on. I am treating him for yeast as well, as he has a red ring around his anus and is pulling on his penis constantly. His eyes are rolling back in his head and he is acting like a total maniac. This is the way he used to be all the time... which is scary because I feel like I'm having horrible flashbacks. I should mention that he had elevated levels of many metals after the 2nd chelation and his lead output was staggering. His level was 62 and I collected that sample very shortly after chelation, so I can only imagine how lead poisoned he is. I guess I'm just looking for support, words of encouragement, other stories. Does this eventually get easier? I obviously cannot leave this metal in his body, but this is so scary to see him like this and so hard on his body. I know that being poisoned is harder, so there is no choice here. I'm just upset, frightened for him and completely exhausted from chasing him. He is not my only child and like many mothers of ASD children, I too am chronically ill and I'm undergoing treatment for various autoimmune disorders. thanks in advance. Guest guest
Vicki, I know of 2 kids in my area (Madison) who were damaged by the DAN! chelating process. It does seem somewhat agressive but you will ultimately have to be the judge. I have chelated my 2 kids by IV only once and saw no results except for a large bill so I am planning to go the Andy Cutler route that is supported by this group. It takes longer but I think it is safer and, I hope, costs less. sally > > You may also be interested in the group chelatingkids2. > > > > Pamela > > > > From: [mailto:Autism- Mercury ] > On Behalf Of vickigran > Sent: Friday, December 26, 2008 3:39 PM > > Subject: [ ] New to chelation > > > > Hey. Guest guest
Hi Vicki, Comments interspersed. S S New to chelation Posted by: " vickigran " vickigran@... vickigran Fri Dec 26, 2008 12:39 pm (PST) Hey. My name is Vicki. My son will be 6 in a few weeks. He is profoundly affected and carries an Autism diagnosis. *Welcome to the list. *Bad idea. The high infrequent doses cause redistribution of toxins into the brain. EDTA is contraindicated for mercury toxic folks. Did you do a DDI hair elements test and apply counting rules? Please consider oral chelation using Andy's protocol. I sure hope he doesn't have ANY mercury amalgam dental fillings. His first round, he was wiped out and calm. We were unable to obtain a urine sample that first time b/c he fell asleep. 2nd round he was more hyper. 3rd time was Monday... he is totally bananas, his hair is falling out in clumps. *Cancel the next appt and educate yourself here about how to safely chelate your son using oral chelators. *He was probably that way before at the time of his oral toxic metal exposures and now the IV chelation is pushing them into the brain bringing about the same symptoms. I should mention that he had elevated levels of many metals after the 2nd chelation and his lead output was staggering. His level was 62 and I collected that sample very shortly after chelation, so I can only imagine how lead poisoned he is. *Safe chelation is a slow process, a marathon, not a sprint. You want to do more good than harm. Consider a DDI hair elements test which you can order yourself, without a doc through DLS (Direct Lab Services). They'll give you a discount if you mention this group. I guess I'm just looking for support, words of encouragement, other stories. Does this eventually get easier? *Only if you safe a safe route and protocol. The one your doc is using is neither. I obviously cannot leave this metal in his body, but this is so scary to see him like this and so hard on his body. I know that being poisoned is harder, so there is no choice here. *The choice is safe chelation. I'm just upset, frightened for him *You're mommy instinct is intact. I'm glad you found us. and completely exhausted from chasing him. He is not my only child and like many mothers of ASD children, I too am chronically ill and I'm undergoing treatment for various autoimmune disorders. *Please order a hair elements test for yourself as well. How many mercury amalgam dental fillings do you have? thanks in advance. Vicki ------------------------------------------------------------ Lawyers Make a big mistake? Guest guest
Cutler's protocol is definitely the only chelation protocol that aims to minimise redistribution issues, which is the key to safe, effective chelation. Guest guest
Hi Vicki, My 5 yo son has heavy metal toxicity. We chelated with an oral supplement called heavy metal detox, and had the *same set back/flashback that you describe. Pulling on his penis is due to yeast. The red anus is also due to yeast. Looking back on our set back, I believe that as we pulled large amounts of metal from his digestive tract, a spontaneous yeast overgrowth occurred. We know we pulled large amounts as we saw what looked like an amalgam filling in his stool (and, later, smaller sized objects as we progressed). I think it would be helpful to eliminate all sugar and fruit, and use large amounts of pro-biotics (3-4 times the adult dose) to fill in the gaps that removing lead leave. We really like Candida Defense, and Candex (an enzyme). We just started chelating with Andy Culter's protocol, and, thankfully, my 5 yo son is sleeping all night. In fact, I struggle to get him to wake up to drink the DMSA / ALA medicine during the middle of the night. --penumbra > him everywhere... he refuses to keep his clothes on. Guest guest
I am very confused. I have been treating with one of the most well respected Doctors on the East Coast. I know that there are thousands of children in his practice that have been treated this way and I personally know some of the parents treating for years w/ my doctor. I know that this is a controversial topic and that opinions vary and I appreciate all the feedback good or negative as I am just trying to understand other's experiences. No, my son has no dental amalgams. I have 3. I am not currently treating myself. Most of what my son is dumping right now is Lead. > > Hi Vicki, > Comments interspersed. > S S > > New to chelation > Posted by: " vickigran " vickigran@... vickigran > Fri Dec 26, 2008 12:39 pm (PST) > Hey. Guest guest
I thought I saw something that looked like a little piece of metal in my son's stool, but I wrote myself off as crazy and figured the metal we pulled would be invisible, microscopic. Seeing this 'piece' was followed by a jump in progress. Did I actually see metal, does it become solid in the body? I even wondered if my son had eaten a piece of a toy or something which he has never done. It looked exactly like a little filling. Next I'll be seeing UFO's and pixies I suppose.Alison M -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: " A Shadow " <penumbraposts@...> > Hi Vicki, > > My 5 yo son has heavy metal toxicity. Guest guest
I would suggest two things. Visit these pages & browse the information here...this will take some amount of time, but it would help with your confusion. http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/ and here... www.danasview.net and...I found it very helpful to browse the archives of this group, right back to the beginning. Using the home page, I would just pick any month, any year and read...another good way to read the archives is to go to this site - many people find this site easier to use when searching the autism treatment archives for specific information... www.onibasu.com wishing you the best, elizabeth > > > > Hi Vicki, > > Comments interspersed. > > S S > > > > New to chelation > > Posted by: " vickigran " vickigran@ vickigran > > Fri Dec 26, 2008 12:39 pm (PST) > > Hey. I did not use IV to chelate, but what you write above, sounds like a yeast overgrowth problem. Hair falling out can be a sign of biotin deficiency, and biotin is also what the body uses to control yeast. Try adding biotin, see if that helps. Guest guest
Thanks for the biotin info. I am on top of the yeast. He has gone thru this before so now I know what I'm looking at. Thanks much > > We recently began IV chelation with EDTA, DMPS and glutathione on a > > bi weekly basis. His first round, he was wiped out and calm. Hi Vicki, Hair falling out is also a symptom of low thyroid levels. Have you tested your son for thyroid and adrenal issues? It's important to give the needed support in these areas before starting chelation. If there are issues in these areas, chelation without the appropriate support can exacerbate them. I echo and others who recommend stopping IV. Do your research on this list - use www.onibasu.com to search the list, it's a much better search engine than the search function. Also, you can search for keywords that include andrewhallcutler and other subjects to get Andy's posts on those subjects. Don't take the risk of doing further damage. If your doctor is really good, he should respect your wish to do certain things differently. I don't know who you are seeing, but a few people on this list see DANs but follow the Cutler chelation protocol.
Guest guest
I have never heard of anyone seeing metals being excreted. Re: [ ] Re: New to chelation I thought I saw something that looked like a little piece of metal in my son's stool, but I wrote myself off as crazy and figured the metal we pulled would be invisible, microscopic. Guest guest
We also work with a well-respected DAN, whom we continue to work with and like. But no-one knows everything, right? We do our own research and trust our instincts. In our 1 year of biomed, our 4 yr old son has weathered a lot of ups and downs and us wanting to spare him more of that brought us to the AC protocol. Our experience after 11 rounds of DMSA has been 100% positive, with gains after each round and no regressions beyond a small hangover Monday/Tuesday. So we strongly recommend considering it. Guest guest
For my son, its the pressure in his head. I help him by gently massaging his head or gently tapping at different points on his head. do you have a osteopath or cranial sacral therapist near by? I would explore that option. Meanwhile continue the chealation as that it is what will help for his recovery. May be try reducing the amount of ALA/DMSA. Hope you have al the other supplements/probiotics/diet on board. Hope he feels better soon. It is so sad to see our precious kids go through this. Take care, Maya > > I have just started chelating my severely autistic son because he was labeled in june as severely mentally retarded as well. I have seen very much good with just 4 rounds of chelation, but recently his hyperactivity has gone through the roof and he is slapping himself in the head with both hands open palmed not his ears but his head. He has never done this before, maybe I was using too much DMSA ALA or maybe it is yeast or a combination of both. He is completely nonverbal and has no way of communicating so he can't tell me why he is doing that, anyone else have anything similar happen to them? >
