Guest guest Posted August 9, 2010 Report Share Posted August 9, 2010 ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF RESEARCH ASSISTANTS ON THE EVALUATION OF FOLLOWUP COUNSELLING TOOLKIT PROJECT Background: AroGyaan, a Society registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act is working with AIDS Prevention and Control Project (APAC) and Tamilnadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS) in the evaluation of the Follow-Up Counseling Toolkit developed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) India in partnership with INDIACLEN. The Follow-Up Counseling Toolkit comprises of six modules and contains a handbook for the counselor, several simple tools to use during a counseling session, flipcharts, and video clips that a counselor can use. TANSACS is planning to train its Counselors working in ART, CCC and DICs in the use of the Follow-Up Counseling toolkit and would like to evaluate the toolkit to analyze if any modifications are required. In this regard, AroGyaan is looking for 12 Research Assistants- two per district to work on the Follow-up Counseling Tool-kit Evaluation Project in Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Salem, Namakkal and Vellore districts of Tamil Nadu. This is a fixed term position for nine months only. The position offers an opportunity to be associated with an emerging public health organization and potential candidates will get exposure in field research and management. Responsibilities: · Experience and strong capabilities in managing and conducting field research including interviewing People Living with HIV (PLHIVs) using semi-structured research tools, interacting with ART Counselors and field level report preparations. · Conduct in-depth interviews and Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) with minimum supervision. · To conduct independent research observations on the project and report the same to AroGyaan Research Team. · Ensure timely collection of data and make certain timely submission of quantitative/ qualitative data and field reports to AroGyaan Research Team. · To liaise with various organizations/stakeholders in the districts to ensure timely and smooth collection of data from the field. · Ensure proper financial documentation and utilization of administrative budget as per requirement of the organization. Necessary Qualifications: · Graduates well versed in English and Tamil. Post graduates in Social Work/Social Sciences preferred. · At least two years experience working in the field of HIV/ TB/public health in rural settings/districts of Tamil Nadu. · The ability to work independently as well as with the team and highly self motivated · Local candidates from the six districts preferred.
