With a national Secretariat in Delhi, Alliance India comprises five lead partner NGOs and their networks of over 110 community-based NGOs/CBOs across four States – Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Manipur and Maharashtra. Key Responsibilities: India HIV/AIDS Alliance seeks a Director to lead our regional office in Hyderabad and manage its experienced team. The position reports to the Country Director based in New Delhi. The Director is responsible for leading the Alliance India’s Hyderabad Office in effective programme delivery and resource mobilisation. The Director ensures programmatic, financial and organisational results are achieved; provides leadership to the staff of the Regional Office and to the management team in particular; develops and ensures the implementation of agreed strategies; and represents the Alliance to a variety of stakeholders. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall management and success of the Alliance India’s regional office, including the following tasks: Provide leadership and effective management oversight of all regional office activities, particularly the Alliance India’s Avahan grant in Andhra Pradesh, a large-scale HIV prevention programme serving sex workers and men who have sex with men (MSM)., Facilitate a smooth transition of the Avahan-funded prevention services to the AP State AIDS Control Society (AP-SACS). Contribute to the successful launch and ongoing implementation of the Alliance India’s new Round 9 Global Fund grant activities in southern India. (The Round 9 grant works across 17 states with sub-recipient NGOs to support community-level prevention programming for MSM, transgender and hijra populations.) Promote a culture of learning to ensure project implementation is resourceful and robust. Identify new project and funding opportunities, together with other Alliance India partners. Maintain a strong alliance of partner NGO organisations implementing effective programming. Motivate team to work effectively in the office and in the field. Serve as a member of the Alliance India’s Senior Management Team and maintain effective communication with the main office in New Delhi. Essential Qualifications: Masters’ degree in management, social sciences, health or development field (or equivalent) and at least 10 – 12 years of progressively responsible management experience in the development sector. Extensive experience in programme development and successful implementation. Proven experience of organisational management at senior level. Proven experience working in programmes related to HIV/AIDS, especially in HIV prevention. HIV prevention programme experience with high-risk groups such as sex workers and MSM is desirable. Experience of managing multi-disciplinary staff and financial resources. Strong ability to interact successfully with people from a range of different backgrounds and in different hierarchical positions. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of partnerships, principles of NGO support and/or donor environment, donor relations/negotiations and reporting. Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise complex concepts and to communicate them effectively Self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel, primarily within Andhra Pradesh and to New Delhi. Strong commitment to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
