Guest guest
We used it at the beginning of biomed with our son. It helped him tremendously, " woke " up his brain and brought him out of his fog. However, once he was more aware, he refused to take it, because it tastes so vile, and he seemed to detect it in whatever food or drink we tried to disguise it in. So we had to look elsewhere for a multi.
Guest guest
I have a question. My dan doctor had me try Lee-Silsby's ASD vitamins. With these you only have to take 3 pills twice a day. My son swallows pills. My dan doctor now suggested that I might want to switch to ASD-Plex. I am concerned because there are so many pills to take with this one (6 pills three times a day) and he is in school a full day. I have thought about switching to Brainchild, however, they only make liquid vitamins. It would be a fight to get the liquid in him. If you have tried the liquid, how do you disquise it? Is liquid over pill better absorbed? Is one of these suppliments better than another? Thanks From: iflow97 <iflow97@...> Subject: [ ] RE: Anyone use ASDplex? Guest guest
The advice I can add, is to check the ingredients in this supplement to be sure you know what's in it, and it's stuff he's ok with. Liquid or caps doesn't matter for absorption really, so if you know he won't do liquids..then your better off staying on what he will take, rather than him not taking any. Kirkman makes some good multi's in pill and chewable form. We use a lot of their products. Brainchild was steep in my opinion and my son would not take liquids either. Why does he want the ASD Plex? What's in that versus what he's on now. I would look at that to see if it's worth switching at all. It may be a matter of a few additional things you can just add to what he takes now. If not, then switching he can take the 2 pills three times a day by taking them in the morning, when he gets home from school, and at bedtime. This is how we dose my kids when they are in school. Oh wow, sorry, I just looked up this multi he's on and it's $80?? Did I read that right?? I looked at the ingredients and they seem similar to most of the Kirkman products. How can they charge people EIGHTY dollars for this stuff?? It's a basic multi, the doses are not even high..my kids takes a lot more than that each day. The only thing I see dosed high is folinic acid. Anyway..sorry I am in sticker shock here.... It seems my son is getting the same quantities and forms of these vitamins/minerals everyday but as Kirkman Spectrum Powder and Kirkman B Complex with P5P. Kirkman are designed for children on the spectrum also. Not sure what to tell you, other than compare the two to see if there is any real benefit to switching to ASD Plex. I was not able to find the ASD-Plex on Silsby's site..so I could not look to see what additional vites/minerals it might contain. > > From: iflow97 <iflow97@...> > Subject: [ ] RE: Anyone use ASDplex? > > Date: Thursday, September 18, 2008, 12:34 PM > > > > > > > We used it at the beginning of biomed with our son. Guest guest
When we used ASDplex we used the powder form, our son does not swallow pills. I don't remember how much the powder was, maybe $90? It was a long time ago. The powder seemed to last forever. It just smelled disgusting and tasted worse. I don't recall it being any more than anything else particularly, but this may not be the case with the pills. But if you think the supplements are expensive from him, a friend of mine took her son to him as a patient, talk about costly! However, I will reiterate that my son did very well with it. We do use the Brainchild Nutritionals liquid multi, my son takes it by syringe with juice. He does just as well, if not better with the BCN stuff. The Kirkman stuff is maybe a bit cheaper, but he could not tolerate any of the Kirkman multis, we tried a bunch of different ones. Again, you have to find what works best for your kid. No one can tell you what to do. It is unfortunately trial and error, and sometimes costly trial and error. As Jada pointed out, this stuff is not cheap, not even Kirkman really.
