look for an environment consultant in your yellow pages. they can come

and do a complete analysis. they even check for air quality, fungi,

mold, etc.

Having home tested for metals?

I just got back my 4yo's hair test result, and he showed high in arsenic and

mercury. From what I researched there are many sources of arsenic. I don't

know about mercury sources other than him eating shellfish once every 1-2

weeks or so (we're going to stop this). I do have amalgams, and we co-sleep.

Could he inhale mercury vapors from me grinding my teeth at night? I have 3

more amalgams to replace. We do live in an industrial area, so it's possible

that mercury is in the air.

*Did you have the amalgams when you were pregnant with him? If so, he got some

of the mercury in utero and via breastmilk if you nursed him. What kinds of

industry are in your area. Any coal-fired power plants? They spew mercury into

the air, onto the land, and into the water.

I can't find a water report by our water dept (hmm... I think they're hiding

something), so I would have to call them on Monday. That doesn't guarantee

the water is not being contaminated on the way to our home.

Is there an agency that I can call to have them test for these toxins in the

home (we're in Ohio, US)?

*Have you checked www.danasview.net/metals for sources of exposure?

We do have a wooden deck,

*Most likely this contains arsenic.

woodwork throughout the

house (the house was built in 1999 before arsenic was removed from lumber),

*weather treated lumber is generally not used for inside the house.

and a lot of our neighbors have wooden swingsets. I'm more concerned about

the water. My husband already said we're not replacing anything. >:(

He also showed slightly elevated levels of other metals, so I wanted to see

if someone can track down all the sources.

Any info is appreciated.
