Guest guest
On 7th October evening at 7, while enjoying with my friend Manoj Barik at Indira Gandhi Park, a few guys came and threatened us that we cannot sit in the park and used abusive language to get us out of the park, when we refused to leave the park, they hit us and called us chakka, maichia and beat us black and blue. They invited a few more of their friends who came and threatened us and beat us up and tried to bodily remove us from the park. We refused and resisted initially and then realized the danger we were in and called up the police. We repeatedly called up the police to come and help us for fifteen minutes no police turned up. Ultimately after fifteen minutes the PCR van turned up and asked us what the matter was; when we started narrating he did not hear our entire story but looked us up and down and asked us to accompany the van to the CAPITAL POLICE STATION, Bhubaneswar. When I (Subham) and Manoj Barik reached the Police Station along with the gentleman who threatened me (Mr. Pradyumna Choudary, Old Town, Bhubaneswar, his friends had vanished), the police were more interested in what he had to say, and never even recorded our complaint, despite the fact that I was the one who had called up the police. Till night 12.00 I along with Manoj sat at the police station, listening to the abuses at the police station, whereas Mr. Choudary was already out of the police station. We were not even allowed to drink water, or go to the toilet. The Police Sub Inspector was abusive and even went to the extent of saying that maichiyas like us should be killed first. Ultimately at the end we realized that the only way out would be not to do anything but apologize to all and just get out of the police station. Both I and Manoj apologized to Mr. Pradyumna Choudary. The Police Sub Inspector ultimately let us go warning us of dire consequences if we were caught next time. I am not sure where humanity is, even if you do not like me being a gay you can at least recognize me as a human being, and that day in the police station for the first time I felt as if I was sub human, or may be an ant or a parasite or something. Hope even my enemy is not treated like this.
