Guest guest
I had speech and OT in my house for and hour a week and took my son to private speech for an hour a week. I knew 40 hours of therapy was what he needed so I supplemented myself. I did everything the professionals did-I had my son jumping on a trampoline, squeezing puddy, rolling him in a blanket, we played with the exact toys as the speech therapist, used verbal behavior to solicit speech. Bottom line...I took away dairy he started to talk. I took away gluten, he came out of the fog. I started chelating-he put on his socks and let a stranger pull him on a sled. I wasted a year on the therapies. It wasn't until I started biomed did he make any improvement. > > Hi, > I wish to know if Occupational therapy, Speech and Physical therapy > are really helpful in treating Autistic kids? Guest guest
In our experience, biomed has been our son's key intervention, particularly chelating with the AC protocol. But the other therapies (OT, PT, Speech) do help him a lot, now that he is able to learn more normally. Now that the fog is clearing somewhat, the therapies are helping him to catch up. In the past, the therapies sort of washed over him and he learned and improved, but very, very slowly. In our experience, who the therapist is makes a lot of difference. It's no surprise that our son learns better with someone who is kind, caring and really tries to figure out what's going on with him and what he needs. Sometimes the youngest, least experienced therapists are the best, it just depends on what kind of person it is. Guest guest
Depends on the kid and the therapists. Tell us a little about your child's challenges, behaviors, etc, then maybe we can provide a more useful response. S S Would therapies be helpful? Guest guest
OT therapy would help for fine and gross motor. And with coordination. Following instructions...maybe depending on why he is having trouble doing so. For my son this was auditory processing and with therapy was helped as well as us changing how we ask and only giving one command at a time...etc. The impulse control improved from biomed for us. > > > Depends on the kid and the therapists.
