I'm not argue against your plans, just be aware if your kids turn out to

be like my daughter (who also had significant lead issues) then they may

find chelation a lot easier to deal with on ALA + DMSA. My daughter

found rounds a LOT rougher when we did ALA alone, and so EASY (like it

was nothing) when we did ALA + DMSA.

What is your liver concern? High AST and ALT scores? High dose milk

thistle will usually do wonders in reducing AST and ALT and general

liver repair.

Thank you for answering Dana. Just to clarify, that's every 8 hours, and

the 25 mgs. was for you and your kids? i.e. rather than by weight?

Did it ultimately pull out all lead, mercury? My daughter is now higher in

lead than mercury, or was from a dmps challenge test that sent her off the

wall for months; now I now they aren't good.

She also has thallium, of which I hear nothing on this board.

I used only ALA. I started with 25mg 3x per day, 3 days on and 4 days

off. Note: this is not the protocol usually recommended on this

message group.

I used only ALA because I was not comfortable with the potential side

effects of DMSA. My kids [and me personally] did very well with this

protocol.

Some kids do better when ALA and DMSA are given together.

Based on the test results of several people who have sent me private

email and also posted here on the group, ALA apparently does eliminate

lead, just not as effectively as DMSA.

We used DMSA+ALA. DMSA is FDA-approved for lead chelation in children.

It worked effectively and efficiently on my very lead-toxic (and other

metals-toxic) son. ALA is very good for removing mercury and arsenic.

DMSA helps control the side-effects of ALA and it marginally improves

excretion of mercury. Personally, I wouldn't dream of chelating for

lead with ALA only. The sooner you get the lead out the better, imo.

Give liver support, like milk thistle on and off-round. I think the

benefits of DMSA far outweight the costs.

In the beginning, I did every 8 hours. After a few rounds, I gave it

3x per day with meals.

For the two younger kids, I started lower. For the two older kids and

for myself, I started at 25mg.

I never did official testing, so I don't really know. I still do

rounds every once in a while, but I never notice any difference with them.

Some people believe this, yes. It does make some sense, altho I don't

know how often it may happen. I used only ALA and never saw anything

that indicated that problem.

Milk thistle and taurine can help support the liver.
