Guest guest Posted October 22, 2009 Report Share Posted October 22, 2009 India HIV/AIDS Alliance invites talented professionals to join our team in Andhra Pradesh Programme Manager: Communication & Knowledge Management (Salary from Rs.7,33,671/- p.a) Established in 1999, the India HIV/AIDS Alliance is a partnership of organisations and communities working towards a shared vision of supporting an effective, sustainable and comprehensive response to reducing the spread of HIV and meeting the challenges of AIDS in India. With a national Secretariat in Delhi, Alliance India comprises five lead partner NGOs and their networks of over 110 community-based NGOs/CBOs across four States – Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Manipur and Maharashtra. The Programme Manager : Communication and Knowledge Management will take the lead role in developing the knowledge management function of the organisation and its NGO partners by strengthening and structuring the collection and analysis of information and its dissemination to and from key populations at the community level and other stakeholders. The person will be responsible for analysing, documenting the progress, impact, challenges and lessons learned of programmes for internal and external audiences. S/he will aassess the organisational and technical support needs of programmes especially in knowledge management related areas for the implementing NGOs and other relevant stakeholders and develop capacity building plans for needs identified; also carryout review and evaluation of the progress and impact of such activities. The Programme Manager Communication & Knowledge Management will be also responsible for identifying target audiences and appropriate methods for developing effective communication strategies. S/he will also accountable for the effective implementation of the communication strategies to help raise the visibility of Alliance, Andhra Pradesh. S/he will manage the process of planning, designing, writing and production of AAA communications including newsletters, annual reports, and press releases. S/he will be part of the Technical Support team and work closely with the Director : Technical Support in identifying potential funding opportunities and developing quality proposals for various donor agencies. The Programme Manager: Communications & Knowledge Management will be an active member of the middle management, taking autonomous responsibility for the results of his/her team, supporting SMT in ensuring the overall welfare and success of Alliance Andhra Pradesh Office; and participating actively in management meetings, to support SMT on improving organisational effectiveness and sustainability in the long run. The candidate should have Master’s degree in social sciences, health or development field (or equivalent) with at least 7 to 8 years of experience working in a non-governmental organisation or research agency of which at least 3 years experience should be in middle management level. S/he should have good experience and understanding of providing technical and capacity building support to organisations at the community level. S/he should have experience of different communication activities, such as production of publications, web based communication and working with media. The ideal candidate should also have demonstrated knowledge and experience in writing proposals for various donors, private foundations, and trusts. We are looking for a candidate who has proficiency in both written and spoken English. S/he should be friendly and approachable with strong analytical and presentation skills. The position requires travel of approximately 40% of the work time. Knowledge in Telugu language will be an added advantage. The position requires a strong commitment to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and NGO activities in India, and a strong interest in and understanding of the relevant issues.
