The official website bagged the e-Governance award in the website category by getting adjudged as the third best website. Website of Kerala Tourism bagged the first price and that of IT Mission Kerala, became the second best website in the same category. In a function held at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram on December 8, Mr S.Ajai Kumar, Joint Director, IEC, Kerala SACS received the award on behalf of Kerala SACS from the Chief Minister of Kerala Mr V.S.Achuthanandan. Chief Secretary of Kerala, Ms Neela Gangadharan presided over the function. Mr Anand Parthasarathy, noted journalist and jury member, in his expert comments saidwww.ksacs.in has gone beyond the mere display and dissemination of information with sensitivity and professional thoroughness. The online counseling facility in the site received special mentioning. Though the website started functioning in 2006, it showed tremendous development within a short period of time. In the beginning the objective of the site was to get the public and the targeted groups aware of the activities of KSACS in its campaign against HIV and AIDS. Today, it not only disseminates information on various activities of KSACS but also effectively interacts with the public and the HIV positives. The official website of KSACS provides detailed information with regard to various service centers functioning under KSACS. Among the highlights of the current website, the facility provided for ‘Online Counselling’ receives good response from users. Through this facility, queries related to HIV, AIDS and sexual health in general are responded in a timely manner by a team of experts at KSACS. In Kerala, a large section of the society is still hesitant to air their doubts, especially those related to HIV,AIDS and sexual health. In this backdrop, the initiatives now in place through the website of KSACS have come up as a boon to the public for getting their doubts cleared without delay and by keeping their confidentiality intact. The website has evolved into an effective means for taking the new developments and events at KSACS to the public and plays a major role in dissemination of HIV prevention messages and service uptake campaigns. The website is managed by Invis Multimedia, a known IT agency based at Thiruvananthapuram More details about the award can be had from the website www.ksacs.in -- S.Ajai Kumar Joint Director IEC Kerala SACS Red Cross Road Thiruvananthapuram - 35 Kerala, India e-mail: <ajai.ksacs@...>
