Guest guest
Dear Vimala Re: /message/11344 Many members of INFOSEM where in touch with the professor when his privacy had been invaded to give him moral support.. Some of us started a Facebook Page to support him that has nearly a 1,000 members and some trusted ones kept in personal touch with him to fight the persecution by Aligarh Muslim University. Some of us mobilised the Lawyers Collective to take up his case.,In fact Lawyers Collective is still his lawyer and got the stay against his suspension in the Allahababad High Court. He finally got the courage to actually say he was proud to be gay. A fact finding mission by many community persons and groups did rushe to Aligarh to investigate and question the University authorities. They went to his help and helped him register the case against AMU for invasion of privacy. But being 64, psrsecuted and outed can be a very difficult situatuon. We knew he was on edge and we were all ready for any help -- if he asked for it. The University had thrown him out of the official residence and he was having difficulty finding accomodation. Finally he found a small room to stay in. We don't know what happened but we know he was under tremendous mental pressure. The cause of death has not been established as murder or suicide. We think there is more than meets the eye here as he had asked for over Rs. 30 lakhs in damages. His provident fund, gratuity and pension were at stake. For all the financial skull drudgery in AMU, we suspect that simething is not quute right there. INFOSEM hopes to do all it can to get him justice What did you expect us to do otherwise, please do advise us regards Ashok Row Kavi arowkavi@...
