My dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is indeed my pleasure to inform you all that I have joined AHRN (Asian Harm

Reduction Network) as the Network Coordinator for an interim period of six

months starting from 1st of April till 30th of September this year.

As you are probably aware AHRN, at present, is undergoing a major transitional

phase, after which it will be divided into two distinct

entities/parts i.e. 1) The AHRN Network and 2) The AHRN Technical Agency.

The former is to retain its original three core activities: advocacy,

networking and information sharing, whereas the latter will look more into

ensuring and achieving increased access to

prevention, care and treatment with higher degree of quality and reaches. Drug

use will still continue to be key priority and interest of AHRN as a whole.

My responsibility would be to see that the AHRN Network is reestablished and

sustains to achieve its set goals.

It is also really very sad for me to leave Care Foundation and NEIHRN (North

East India Harm Reduction Network) after so many years of having gone through

all those trying times and successes of course.

But I feel it is also now the time for me to look out for broader level

challenges and to see if I could thrust/accelerate the agendas with greater

force to contribute in making a difference at the ground level. Moving out of

my present position

(read: NE India) will not only expand my horizon but it will also give a window

of opportunities to my colleagues and other subordinates (2nd Line Leaders) to

grow and

expand their horizon too.

It is fortunate that both Care Foundation and NEIHRN are now in

the hands of trusted and committed management committees. And I’m sure they

have the adequate manpower and resource now, to achieve more than what has

already been achieved.

I bid my farewell to colleagues in Care Foundation and NEIHRN and my best wishes

to all of you.

I hope to receive your continued support and warm wishes to contribute in

progressing the harm reduction agenda in the region.
