Neurontin for absence seizures? Anyone know about this medicine?

My boys have been prescribed Neurontin for absence seizures to see if it will

help with speech.  They are completely non verbal and the doctor feels they are

having seizures in the parietal lobe where speech is produced.

 

Does anyone know about this medicine and good effects or side effects?  Should

we intro it now or after the holiday?
