Guest guest
Dear all, Re: /message/11548 Wonder if anyone is really surprised by this turn of events? Having regard to the lethal practice of letting untrained doctors mal_ prescribe Highly Active Retroviral Therapy (HAART). So many discussions I had as a visitor to India when I saw people prescribed mono therapy for suspected HIV status. I hope the authorities can create a special class of prescribers regulated by their peers so that appropriate HAART therapy can become the norm in India regardless of the education status of the patients. In Australia these group of Drs are referred to as section 100 prescribers and the number of medicines consigned to the section 100 class include HAART, but also other toxic medicines such as methadone where knowledge and ability to prescribe appropriately and manage patient care are tested before recognition is granted. -- Geoff Heaviside Convenor - Brimbank Community Initiatives Inc Convenor - Brimbank International Student Support Services Secretary - International Centre for Health Equity Inc Member - Australasian Society for HIV Medicine Inc P.O.
