Position Description:

The Regional Technical Support Manager will be responsible for managing and

coordinating the activities of the in-country Technical Advisors seconded to

NFI's country partners as a part of the GFATM project. This will include

providing overall management of the technical advisors, the provision of

on-going technical advice and support to these advisors, develop

capacity–building programmes with the Training Coordinator to strengthen the

knowledge and skills of the Advisors, and arrange regular meetings at the

Regional Office for them as per the activities and budgets of the GFATM project.

Summary of responsibilities:

• Provide support and over-all management of the country-based Technical

Advisors of the GFATM project.

• Ensure that country-based Technical Advisors are provided with all the tools,

technical advice and capacity building to fulfill their function as external

advisors to the country partners.

• Monitor and evaluate the country-based technical advisors.

• Ensure that regular reports are submitted by the TAs, along with developing

monthly and quarterly reports that collate their reports.

• Provide technical support as requested by the TAs, and by the Regional Project

Director/Chief Executive

• Conduct regular capacity-building meetings as identified in the work plans.

• Conduct site visits as required to monitor and evaluate the country based TAs.

• Keeping up to date with information, debates and knowledge on MSM issues,

specifically how they affect males in south Asia, south-east Asia and other

developing countries.

• To provide information, policy papers, reports and briefings on a range on

HIV/AIDS, sexual health, sexuality, welfare and rights issues as and when

requested.

• To develop, in conjunction with research partners, regional research project

proposals. To submit these proposals and manage any relevant regional research

projects.

• To undertake specific research activities as determined by senior management.

• To make presentations on a range of HIV/AIDS, sexual health, welfare and

rights issues as requested.

• To attend meetings, forum and conferences as requested.

• To attend meetings with other members of NFI staff and volunteers.

• To undertake self-supporting administration duties.

• Any other duties commensurate with the salary as requested.

Skills and qualifications required:

• Proven knowledge of MSM, HIV/AIDS, and sexual health issues (Essential)

• Proven training skills and good communication abilities in HIV/AIDS

prevention, care and support, sexualities, gender, human rights.

• Proven experience of working with MSM and sexual health issues in a CBO

setting

• Knowledge of MSM, masculinities, gender and rights issues in South Asia and

developing countries (Desirable)

• Educated to degree level (Essential)

• Experience of writing reports (Essential)

• Computer literate with a very good working knowledge of Windows Microsoft

Office products.

• Excellent writing skills (Essential)

• Fluency in English (Essential). Knowledge of other South Asian languages

would be useful

• 2-3 years experience in sexual health or development (desirable)

• Demonstrated competence to assess priorities and meet deadlines with attention

to details and quality.

• Experience in writing and producing reports.

• Ability to work independently and as a team player with demonstrated

leadership skills, communication, networking and presentation capabilities.

Will report to the Regional Project Director.

Remuneration:

Salary package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and
