New Delhi, 26 Nov 2008: Dr Chinkholal Thangsing, a clinician, activist, management expert in the field of HIVAIDS, a recipient of Royal Order of Sahametrei by the Royal Government of Cambodia has been awarded the coveted ‘Karmaveer Puraskaar’ award on the 26th of November 2009 in New Delhi for his personal and professional outstanding, courageous and inspiring contribution for the cause of HIVAIDS and for people living with HIVAIDS in India and in the Asia Pacific region. The ‘Karmaveer Puraskaar’ the prestigious Annual National Awards for Social Justice & Citizen Action was awarded today to individuals who have been pivotal in leading change by working on social issues. The Citation Reads: Dr. Chinkholal Thangsing, is currently the Asia Pacific Chief for AIDS Healthcare Foundation and heads programs in India, Cambodia, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Nepal. He is a clinician, an activist and a management expert who has been dedicated to his work in the field of HIVAIDS since 1990. He has dedicated his career, personal life and resources to the fight against HIV/AIDS and has contributed to the treatment of over 15000 patients in India and Asia region. With over 25 years of medical experience, he has been successful in providing treatment consultations, conducting training workshops, spreading awareness on HIV management, sensitization and education of healthcare professionals, provision of ARVs drugs to people living with HIVAIDS. An excellent communicator, he has immense flair and faith in the quality work that he does KARMAVEER PURASKAAR was created in 2006 by iCONGO Indian Confederation of NGOs that recognizes individual citizens from various sectors for excellence and best practices in promoting social justice and action in their sector by being and leading the change beyond their personal daily lives and business as usual by being committed on individual levels to work for social justice issues with proactive citizen action.
