Guest guest
Dear Forum, /message/11580 It is really a great initiative taken by the Keral SACS and also do salute to the four district Panchayaths(Kazaragode, Malappuram, Kottayam and Alappuzha) who has cooperated with Keral SACS to implement this programme for the low income HIV Positive group. Actually if we see everywhere there is low income PLHIV group. They are not getting food two times in a day when they are taking 1st line and 2nd line ARD and also those people who are not on ARD till date. Where proper nutrition is very essential for us. But because of our income level and also the number of family member it is very tough to have nutrition properly and also we are not getting BPL certificate for some criteria complication to avail the facilities of welfare scheme. Thou our District level networks are trying to get from the GR Scheme, but it is not regular. So I would like to request to all the Mainstreaming Division, please try to initiate such type of programme through Panchayathi-raj institutions (PRIs) like KSACS, so that we can be benefited. Guest guest
Dear AIDS INDIA, Re: /message/11580 I think this is an excellent case study to use for other programs. Congratulations to KSACS. Myrada , as part of their link worker program, in 4 districts of Karnataka, has developed a training manual to use with gram panchayats - focussed on getting them to understand their role in HIV prevention and care. One of the outputs of this training is developing a 6 month action plan for each GP whereby they allot time and money towards specific actions ranging from community based programs to supporting PLHIVs etc. OF course, so far these have been localised programs to within a GP community- but now I feel we can use the Kerala case study to get them to think at a bigger and higher level. We have used this training manual with over 200 GPs so far and have found excellent results- from very unenthusiastic and uninterested GP members, who refused to accept that HIV was an issue in their area- to 100% change in attitude at the end of the training to develoactionon plans to reduce stigma and provide care for infected persons. We will be happy to share thitraininggn manual with those interested in using it- 3 session training over 2 days. Regards Dr. Maya Mascarenhas MYRADA maya@...
