Guest guest
Be alert, wake up CWC (Child Welfare Committee) Dear Forum, Re: /message/11564 One and half year is pretty very long time and more than sufficient time for any Government authority (CWC-Child Welfare Committee) or police to verify or find some illegal happening or Gurukul Godavari Balakashram lacked the license necessary under the Juvenile Justice Act to run an adoption centre. Why police or CWC taken such a long time one and half year to verify and find out illegal activities happening in pune? If action taken on this organization at right time in regard to no proper licence than this issue would not have been today. The orphanage president, Mathew Rayappa Yanmal may be at the time of starting the orphanage was ignorant about the procedures or registration formalities. And if action or direction was provided by CWC or police at the time of initiation of orphanage this victim Ms. Anita Arun Yadav would not have been adopted baby boy from this orphanage and Mr. Yanmal would not have been selling babies. Guest guest
Dear forum, Re: /message/11564 Certain things I have not understood in this whole story How did HIV infection get converted into AIDS in one and a half years time? From the story it seems the child was healthy at the time of adoption and that is why neither the adoptive parents nor the people running the orphanage felt the need of taking him to doctor and got him tested. When and how did the adoptive parents find his HIV positive status? Was he put on ARV? What was the immediate cause of his death? I have seen many children with CD4 count as low as 60-100 thriving well after the initiation of ARV. Were adoptive parents and the orphanage reluctant to keep a HIV positive child with them? Why did adoptive parents remain silent for six months? Had the orphanage given them another child, then they would not have complained and the heinous activities of the orphanage would not have come into light? I shall be grateful if the forum answer the above queries for the thorough understanding of the case. I think thorough investigation is required in this case and those found guilty should be punished severely. Guest guest
Infant HIV tests, CD4 count, and ARV initiation Dear forum, Re: /message/11564 Certain general information related to infants CD4 count and HIV tests and initiation of ARV, i can share with forum members in regards to questions raised in postings in e-forum. Baby born to HIV infected mother retain mother's antibodies upto 18 months, which means the test result is HIV positive on an HIV antibody test (ELISA), even if the baby was actually HIV negative. Normally babies who are born to HIV positive mothers receive a PCR test after birth which gives accurate test results. In the earlier postings in e-fourm it was mentioned that the mother of the child had gone to the adoptive parent to give the birth certificate. Incase if the mother of child is alive and if the legal proceedings is in court. Then court can order HIV-related test without her consent for determination of issues and in the interest of justice in a matter before it; and that the HIV-related information of that is not disclosed except in accordance with the provision. As child died in Lilavati hospital, the actual cause of death must have mentioned on death certificate issued by hospital. Usually infant in age group of less than 11 month and their CD4 count is less than 1500 cells/mm3 (<25%) they can be put on ARV. Also children in age group of 1 year and upto 3 years with CD4 count less than 750 cells/mm3 (20%) can put them on ARV. But information related to child Ved who died in Lilavati hospital can only get from doctors or adoptive parents or if any forum members knew can shared story with us in the forum.
