Guest guest
Dear PLHIV group members, Re: /message/11571 First of all I am requesting all of you to stop writing the negative things happening about PLHV at large. Write something about good things happening in the country. Don't again and again spoil PLHIV image in the forum. If you find anything bad in the statelevel network, go and figth with them. Not in the AIDS INDIA forum. With solidarity, Kumar Kumar Nagarajan e-mail: <kumarnagarajan86@...>
Guest guest
Dear Forum, Re: /message/11571 My reading of this email suggests that the Committee's working for the well being of PLHIV are salaried Committee members using funds provided for support and care programs for PLHIV's. but not answerable to PLHIV's directly. I would like to validate that presupposition first because what follows depends on the nature of beast. It matters little whether it is in U.P. or anywhere else in India although something like this process is already working in Tamil Nadu so it can't be impossible either. If funds are being misappropriated then changes are required not name calling. If it is a career path then it won't work. My advice to all SACS Committees is that their aim should be to be out of a job eventually as less and less citizens become infected and more and more PLHIV's become well enough to work and take care of themselves. That to me is the purpose of HIV funding. Inside that purpose are many facets including care and support, freedom from discrimination, access to appropriate levels of medication the administration of which is clearly understood by both infected people and their prescribers. Then there is the matter of access to appropriate housing, nutrition, hydration and prophylaxis where warranted and access to employment options where possible. What then happens is the PLHIV's live a normal lifespan and since no new infections are occurring the disease fades from the chronic illness tables progressively. This data cant be measured short term either because whenever a testing program is carried out it stands to reason that more infections are going to be tabulated. That doesn't always mean new infections, just some of the old ones being discovered early enough to be remedially treated. In terms of this model the President and Executive of such a Committee should be PLHIV's. Memberships should be a priority for PLHIV's unless there are none willing or able to fill all the vacancies. These members should be chosen by the membership. At least one member should be competent to prepare financial reports and budgets. The SACS Committee and NACO could be offered an ex-officio position each for transparency. Priorities for services would be managed by the Executive and reported regularly to the membership, avoiding meetings in favour of internet communication where practical. Now I will wait for an answer to my original question. Looking forward to eventually reaching U P in my travels around India. I started from Tamil Nadu working my way south and west and eventually reaching M.P before my travel budget cut out. Guest guest
Need an explaination. Dear Editor, AIDS INDIA, Re: /message/11571 These posts are confusing. Before putting up these posts on the AIDS India e-forum, the editor should validated and that name of the person who has sent this article should be mentioned for all those who post these article so that we should know who writes so that we get clarifications to these articles. These posting further puts allegations to the PLHIV community. It was stated in the article that: " State level network of utter pradesh are now working only for money. All of their board are corrupt and involve in criminal n sexual activities " . Can you or the person who have posted this article prove this statement? Best wishes, Celina e-mail: <celina@...>
Guest guest
Dear Members Re: /message/11571 I am entirely in agreement with Kumar. The best practices and improvements in the life of PLHA are worth discussing instead of orchestrating a war on people. This e group is not the forum for such attcks.
