To,

Dr B.B.Rewari,

National Programme Officer (ART)

National AIDS Control Organistion,

6th Floor, Chandralok Building,

36, Janpath, New Delhi-110001

It seems that the difficulties and problems posed by the circumstances are

growing leaps and bounds and there is no end to it, except to live with them

being deprived of their services which are meant for the affected people.

Here in Nagpur city with a population of about 20 lacks,

nearly 15,000 PLHAs are registered with the ART centre.

GMC and 2800 PLHAs IGGMC for the treatment and are required to under go regular

CD4 count test regularly, but alas! there is only one machine at the GMC which

has very high limitations, since last two years due to some technical reasons

only limited number of samples were collected due to this the regular CD4 count

was not being under taken of the PLHA on ART.

It seems that the machine was out of order on 10/9/09 near about 90 sample

collected were get wasted, same incident had took place on 5 /10/09 and, in

month of August and September 2010.

This is a cause of major concern which hampered the pre ART LFUs were on rise,

and the PLHA who come from far flung areas to get the CD4 test done had to go

back disappointed, this has affected there health further more as the ART

centers from where the medicine are provided are unable to take proper decision

on start of the medicine, this will prove them to be ineffective and there

Samaritan services will be withdrawn in near future.

we here by appeal to the concerned authorities to wake up from the deep slumber

and take corrective measures for the well being of the PLHAs.

We are concerned;

Why SACS not provided CD4 machine in IGGMC ART center? There is

enough infrastructure available. Or to reduce the pressure on the overload on

current CD4 machine, SACS may be provide a Backup CD4 machine in GMC Nagpur.
