N-Naga DAO meet resolves

Dimapur, June 9 (MExN): The N-NagaDAO had a joint meeting with the NEIDUF, NNP+,

NUN, Project ORCHID and NSACS under the chairmanship of Commissioner Secretary

of Health and Family Welfare at the Conference Hall, Civil Secretariat, Kohima

on June 9, 2010, regarding the proposed mandatory HIV testing among drug users.

A press note stated that after deliberating on the issue, the Project Orchid

admitted that there was a miscommunication and that they will withdraw and

retract the same. Project ORCHID has also apologised for the confusion created.

The members present also reiterated that mandatory HIV testing is a violation

of human rights and it will also have serious negative impact.

The Network appreciates the understanding that has come about from this meeting

to work together in close coordination in addressing the challenges of HIV and

drug use, it stated.
