Guest guest
Dear Forum, I briefly wanted to introduce the NYC - Nghathal Youth Club and the efforts we have been putting to fight the HIV pandemic in Churachandpur, Manipur. The Nghathal Youth Club Music Project is supported by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation since 2009. The aim of the project is to engage young people through music and educate them about drug use and HIV/AIDS. The music project provides free music lesson i.e Guitar, Keyboard, Drums etc free of cost and also encourage to form Bands (Rock Band, Praise and Worship Band and so on..) to young people of the District. The Drop in Space is fully equipped with all the required instruments as mention above for practice and rehearsal. When young people access the music project for lesson or jamming, we conduct training and interaction so that young people can gain knowledge about drugs and HIV/AIDS. We have regular events in and around the town of CCPur where those performing bands provides life skill messages to the gathering crowd during performances. Here is a short documentary film of the project (just 4 minutes) http://foundation.staying-alive.org/en/stories/india_nyc any comment or feedback is welcome or any interested individual/organization wants to get in touch with us, please feel free to contact us at the following: Ricky Chhakchhuak Project Leader Nghathal Youth Club SAF Music Project Churachandpur, Manipur +919862740729 E-MAIL: <chhacks_99@...>
