Guest guest Posted September 6, 2010 Report Share Posted September 6, 2010 AIDS awareness programmes for families of troops launched New Delhi, Sep 4 (PTI) Wives of senior IPS officers today launched a massive HIV/AIDS awareness programme here for families and troops of paramilitary and central police forces across the country. The ''train-the-trainers'' programme will aim at imparting education and counselling techniques for prevention of HIV/AIDS to personnel, including officers, of the almost eight-lakh strong paramilitary force like CRPF, CISF, BSF, ITBP, SSB, NSG and SPG. " The programme launched by the IPS wives welfare association will aim at creating awareness about HIV/AIDS to all the personnel of the central police and para-military forces. " Such an awareness is necessary as the work conditions of these personnel are arduous and they also have to live away from their homes for long durations too, " association President Surekha Mathur, wife of Intelligence Bureau chief Rajiv Mathur, said. The trainers programme was inaugurated today at the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) campus here. " The aim is to educate both the force personnel and his or her family as both have to live separately when the earning member is posted at a far-off location, " Sujata Das, wife of CISF chief N R Das said.
