Guest guest Posted July 11, 2010 Report Share Posted July 11, 2010 Satellite Session Announcement: Social Media Lab for Clinicians and HCWs in HIV/AIDS Swasthya India, Jodhpur School of Public Health, HIV-Atlas are pleased to announce the Consortium ‘Social Media Network for HIV Response’. We are organizing the Satellite Session “Social Media Lab for Clinicians and HCWs in HIV/AIDS”, at the XVIII International AIDS Conference, to be held in Vienna, Austria, 18-23 July 2010. The Satellite Session will take place on Sunday, 18 July, 11:15 - 13:15, in Mini Room 7 • Kohli, Ishdeep (Facilitator), Mumbai, India • Purohit, Anil (Chairperson), Boston, United States Information and Communication Technology is seen as a vital factor in enhancing development and healthcare efforts. Internet, E-Networking, Social Media, Mobile Phones and Telemedicine can improve the efficiency of HIV/AIDS information exchange in resource-limited settings. Clinicians will be introduced to social media tools to increase their knowledge and skills in accessing and disseminating live HIV/AIDS information through the internet, mobile devices and other interactive media. An understanding of online communities and their impact on HIV clinical management will be provided. Clinicians will be presented methods of using such social media tools to gain access to target audiences including PLWHA, their support groups, as well as monitor and gauge responses from the target audience. This workshop will help clinicians and health care workers understanding the basics of how these tools can be used to influence knowledge, attitudes, behaviors and in rapidly disseminating cutting edge research and evidence-based case management approaches.
