Sub: Organising workshop on Videography skills – 20 & 21 March 2010

Technical Resource Institute, a unit of Vasavya Mahila Mandali is organising two

day workshop to build the skills of development professionals, people from

communities and academicians in facilitating a Skills building workshop on

Videography and Documentary Skills.

The workshop will be on 20 & 21 March 2010 at Vasavya Mahila Mandali,

Vijayawada. We request you to utilise the opportunity to capture your events

through your eyes.

Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM) is a Non profit, Secular, Non Political,

non-governmental organization working with the people for their comprehensive

development. Gora and Saraswathi Gora, Gandhians, atheists, renowned social

reformers and champions of humanism, founded VMM in 1969. Saraswathi Gora has

received national awards for the promotion of humanism and for women and child

welfare activities.

During the last four decades under the dynamic leadership of Chennupati Vidya,

Former Member of Indian Parliament, VMM has grown as a pioneer service

organization. Today VMM as development organization working with the network of

43 NGOs/CBOs in extending services to as many as 50 Laks people, Spread over

rural and urban AP.

Technical Resource Institute (TRI)

Technical Resource Institute (TRI) is committed to enhancing the specialized

knowledge and skills of people serving in the social and community development

sector. TRI unit of Vasavya Mahila Mandali is promoted to build the capacities

of civil society organisations by facilitating Trainings, Workshops, Seminars

and Research in the range of specialized areas such as health, education,

water, sanitation, SHGs, women and child development, Advocacy and Research. TRI

strives to plug training gaps and catalyse new training programmes with experts

in field, nationally and from internationally, to keep specialized competence of

the development sector in Andhra Pradesh.

Viediography and Documentary Training Course

Videography skills are one of the important profession and livelihood skills in

Andhra Pradesh, India. TRI will provide the skills on about the video cameras as

a technical, creative tool for communication and as well as video taking. In two

days workshop cover topics like cinematography, parts of video camera, script

writing and editing and video taking. Most of the time NGOs, CBOs and other

professionals have to depend on the videographers and others to learn about the

Videography and video shooting. TRI is ready to provide the skills and knowledge

on Videography. It helps to the participants for resource mobilization and self

sustaining the programmes through the video documents.

Workshop Objectives

To provide the knowledge and skills on Videography and Documentary thereby

increase the opportunities of making community videos in development sector and

other professionals.

To train 20 participants in Videography and Documentary skills thereby increase

the livelihood opportunities for the participants in Videography.

About Resource Person

Haley is a volunteer from the US who has a passion and interest in both

videography and the development sector. She was born and raised in New York

State, and is currently living in California. Holding a degree in Anthropology,

Haley has a strong background in videography, development work, and documentary

photography. She has already conducted one skills building workshop in India

with the cooperation of VMM, Picturing Hope, and the Abbott Fund. She has

worked with groups in the US and Mexico, as well.

Methodology

The workshop methodology consist of training sessions, group work and

presentation, practice with video cameras, script writing, film editing, review

and discussions and other participatory approaches like play and brain storming.

Facilities in VMM

VMM is well equipped with the training halls, dining hall and secured

accommodation for women within the campus. It has own medical doctors for to

attend for medical emergencies and a numerous social reformers for the

interaction. It is in mid town of Vijayawada having round the clock travel

facility form railway station, bus stand and the places. Participants will

access the all the services like computer, internet, etc.

Eligibility for Participants

The workshop is targeted to the Voluntary Organizations / community based

organisations, Videographers, Social Workers, other professionals, Project

managers, Chief executive officers and others who involved in the videography

profession.

Date and Duration

The duration of the workshop is two days that is 20th and 21st March 2010.

Course Fee and number of trainees in II batch: The seats are limited to 20 in

order to have personal attention of the facilitator on all the trainees. The

workshop is both residential and non residential:

Residential: Rs 1500

Non Residential: Rs 1200
