Family Health International (FHI) is dedicated to improve lives through a highly

diversified program of research. Since our inception in 1971, FHI has formed

partnerships with national governments and local communities in dozens of

countries throughout the developing world to support lasting improvements in the

health of individuals and the effectiveness of health care systems. We seek

qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Public Health Programs

in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Position responsibilities:

The Deputy Director is a member of the FHI Nepal Country Office Senior

Management Team and is responsible for oversight of the program and technical

resources. The Deputy Director contributes to program development, and provides

overall leadership for implementation, monitoring and evaluation; technical

quality; and strategic information for all FHI Nepal Projects. The Deputy

Director leads an effectively performing team of highly capable and energetic

Team Leaders for program and technical areas such as program/NGO management,

strategic information, research, HIV clinical work, NGO capacity building,

strategic behavior change and national program/activities support.

Minimum Requirements:

MS/MA in public health or related field required; PhD desired. At least 7 years

relevant experience in management of international development programs

including 5 years of supervisory experience; international experience desired.

Experience with USAID regulations preferred.

Management acumen and skills to thrive in a working environment characterized by

change and dynamism. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, facilitation and

excellent written and verbal communications skills, team player, strategic

thinker and self-motivated, with the ability to take multiple initiatives

forward. Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders on all levels

(beneficiary groups, donors, technical experts, collaborating partners, and

local NGOs). Working knowledge of Nepali language required.
