I-TECH India Project I-TECH INDIA PROJECT-AROGYAAN DEPUTY MEDICAL DIRECTOR Job Description Organization Description:The International Training and Education Center on Health (I-TECH) is a federally-funded project which supports the development of HIV/AIDS care and treatment training initiatives in 25 resource-limited countries acutely impacted by the global AIDS epidemic. In India, the I-TECH India Project is implemented by AroGyaan, a Society registered under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act. Position Description: AroGyaan seeks a Deputy Medical Director to work on the I-TECH India Project. The Deputy Medical Director will work closely with the Medical Director, Executive Director and other Clinical and senior Management Team members. Responsibilities: · Assist/collaborate with the Medical Director in all clinical and programme management activities · Take lead role in the HIV Fellowship Programme, a one year clinical training program to prepare junior and mid-level physicians to be leaders in HIV related care and support, education, and research at the Government Hospital of Thoracic Medicine (GHTM), Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai. · Participate in activities involved in building the capacity of the national Centers for Excellence (COE) to impart quality training to other people involved in caring for the PLHIV based on NACO guidelines. · Participate in the I-TECH India Project-AroGyaan HIV/AIDS Distance Clinical Seminar Series (CSS) which is a platform to provide interactive, case-based instructional sessions on the clinical management of HIV/AIDS. Using software called Adobe Connect Pro Live (CPL). 60-minute sessions are web cast to participants in all districts in India. Presenters for the series are national experts and who have vast experience in the HIV/AIDS field. · Participate in the HIV Clinical Warmline, a telephone-based technical consultation resource for HIV health care providers (HCP) in India which provides consultation on ARV Therapy & Management; Opportunistic Infections Diagnosis & Management; Post Exposure Prophylaxis; HIV-related Pregnancy Issues. · Train the Medical Officers working at ART Centers, Link ART Centers and Community Care Centers (NACO Trainings) · Train other doctors whenever necessary · Assist in curriculum development activities · Supervise the clinical team · Assist in developing academic materials Administrative role: Will supervise the Senior Clinical Trainer, Senior Clinical Specialist, and Clinical Trainer. Others: Submit monthly activities report to Medical/Executive Director. Document programme activities following M & E protocols. Attend meetings on behalf of AroGyaan, representing Fellowship Programme and clinical care activities. Oversee the Clinical Consultation Warmline once in a week, participate in curriculum development activities of AroGyaan and oversee the onsite demonstration and dissemination of OI videos. The Clinical Trainer will work closely with the Deputy Medical Director, Medical Director and other clinical and senior management team members. Responsibilities: Fellowship Programme: Manage day-to-day operations of the HIV Fellowship Programme along with Programme Officer – Training, and members of the Clinical Team. Build relationships with a pool of Clinical Resource Faculty Conduct technical assistance sessions of 2 hours in the wards with Fellows thrice weekly and document the log of all the clinical team sessions and share with the Deputy Medical Director Conduct/score monthly assessments Coordinate or liaise with the Deputy Medical Director and other members of the Clinical Team in organizing and assessing Exposure Visits for Fellows. Conduct minimum 2 trainings/month with Fellowship Programme Oversee recruitment activities Coordinate with Deputy Medical Director in revision of Fellowship Curriculum periodically Mobilize appropriate existing resources for Fellowship Programme Co-ordinate Triannual clinical assessment Co-ordinate program evaluation through external evaluator Take lead role in the public health, behaviour and social science component of the Fellowship Programme Other Activities: Training: o Serve as a trainer with training programmes, including NACO trainings, if required. Clinical Mentoring: Participate in other on-site mentoring activities Curriculum development: o Participate in other curriculum development activities Others: Submit monthly activities report to Deputy Medical Director. Document programme activities following M & E protocols. Attend meetings on behalf of AroGyaan, representing Fellowship Programme and clinical care activities. Take turns to handle the Clinical Consultation Warmline once in a week Participate in curriculum development activities of AroGyaan Involve in onsite demonstration and dissemination of OI videos. Required Qualifications: MBBS with post-graduate or diploma in the following specializations: Pediatrics, Public Health, O & G or Internal Medicine. Atleast two years post-qualification teaching/training experience. Strong grasp of HIV and related clinical issues, infection control and knowledge of current medical literature. Understanding of HIV care and treatment context and guidelines in India. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills and ability to work effectively in a team. Experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation. Curriculum development skills, with an emphasis on interactive, participatory learning methodologies. Fluent written and oral English language required, with working knowledge of South Indian language (Tamil, Telugu) preferred.
