Guest guest
Greeting from Child In Need Institute This is in reference to the query posted in AIDS India Group. Child In Need Institute-CINI, a national level NGO, acknowledge the seriousness of the pandemic of HIV & AIDS in India and its significant impact on the workplace. It shares the understanding of AIDS as a chronic, manageable disease with socio-economic and human rights implications. CINI adopted the HIV/AIDs workplace policy in the year 2006.The objectives of CINI's Work place policy are: - Ø Address the need for HIV & AIDS awareness and prevention in the workplace. Ø Ensure that staff living with HIV has the same rights and obligations as other staff i.e. to avoid discrimination and prejudice based on HIV status. Ø Promote a non-discriminatory environment within the organization in which employees living with HIV are able to be open about their status (to the committee dealing with HR issues) without fear of stigma or rejection. Ø Maintain the confidentiality and dignity of employees living with HIV. Ø Take steps to enhance the health of all employees, including those who are living with the virus As a part of internal mainstreaming we have a training manual and every newly recruited staff is capacitated on HIV/AIDS and a refreshers training is conducted in regular intervals for all staffs during the paid working hours attendance by all staffs including the management. As a part of external mainstreaming we are capacitating the Panchayati Raj Institutions, Self Help Group Members, Religious Leaders, Auxillary Nurse Midwife and Anganwadi Workers. Thus CINI has the requisite expertise to provide trainings to other local NGO's for the development of HIV/AIDS work place policy their organization and we would like to take this forward. Our HIV/AIDS workplace Policy and related documents are available in our website (www.cini-india.org). For further details you may contact the undersigned.
