Guest guest
Dear All, This is regarding the news about the suspension of Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, a professor at the Aligarh Muslim University, after he was allegedly " caught " having " consensual sex with a rickshaw-puller in his campus home " (ToI, 18 feb 2010: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Aligarh-Muslim-University-profess\ or-suspended-for-being-gay/articleshow/5585787.cms) I understand that Dr Siras decision is not to challenge the suspension and not to " stretch the issue. " However, since the news has appeared in the public domain, I was wondering if we could issue a statement of solidarity that also draws attention to the clear violations of privacy (The ToI article refers to students setting up video cameras to " catch " him and to two reporters from a local TV channel barging into his house). Any opinions and suggestions?
