Guest guest
Dear and respected all, Just two studies are cited here to emphasize the monstrosity of the problem of maternal mortality. About 38% of maternal deaths in our country occur due to haemorrhage (Sample Registration System of India -2005) Systematic review (WHO) of 34 (thirty four) datasets -percentage of maternal deaths from haemorrhage was higher than previously estimated by WHO (Khan KS et al, WHO analysis of cause of death: a systematic review, Lancet 2006;367:1066-74). Fully functional blood storage centres are a part of strategic interventions to reduce maternal mortality. Facilitation of blood storage centres necessitates effective mother blood banks-RBTCs, govt. and IRCS blood banks. We would request you to kindly provide your valuable inputs to enrich and strengthen the draft guidelines on RBTCs(as attached) developed by us. The same have been shared with some of the technical experts in the state with incorporation of their inputs. Thanks and best wishes, Dr.Rajesh Gopal.
