About SAATHII:

SAATHII, a non-government organization founded in 2000, works to strengthen the capacities of individuals and organizations working on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV in India through information dissemination, networking, advocacy, research and technical assistance services. It is known for innovative and multi-sectoral initiatives in the SRH, HIV and associated fields. SAATHII is registered as a tax-exempt charitable trust with offices in Chennai (Head Office), Kolkata, Hyderabad,

Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Imphal and Nagpur.

Job Descriptions:

SAATHII will set up and run the State Training and Resource Centres (STRC) in the state of Orissa, with funding support from National AIDS Control Organization, New Delhi and technical assistance from Orissa State AIDS Control Society, to strengthen the capacity of NGOs and Civil Society

Organizations (CBO) running the Targeted Intervention (TI) projects in Orissa.

The primary objective of running the STRCs shall be as follows:

a) To build capacities of TI project functionaries to ensure qualitative improvement in their functioning to achieve the objective of prevention of new HIV infections among High Risk Groups (HRGs) and bridge populations.

B) Ensuring need based quality training of TI projects as per NACP-III’s technical and operational guidelines.

c) Development of local resources like facilitators for training, demonstration sites to ensure that the skills development process is sustained.

d) Enhancing the capacity of NGOs and CBOs in proposal development for NACO funded TI projects.

e) Undertaking operational research and learning site development.

SAATHII is looking for two suitable individuals for the post of Training Officers.

Key responsibilities of the Training Officer, STRC – Orissa will be as follows:

1. Working with NGOs and CBOs (TI partners) in close coordination with HRG community members.

2. Organizing training for TI partners on NACP-III, HIV/AIDS and other health related issues.

3. Preparing curriculum and other documentation required for trainings.

4. Carrying out operational research in coordination with the TI partners.

5. Translating training modules and other learning materials in regional languages.

6. Conducting training for TI partners and overseeing logistics management for the training activities.

7. Developing pedagogy for trainings and providing inputs to NACO / SACS for future training curriculum.

8. Identifying and documenting the best practices and training outputs.

9. Assisting the Project Manager in overall management and writing reports.

The Training Officers, STRC – Orissa will report to the Project Manager.

Skills and qualifications required:

1. At least a graduation or equivalent degree from a reputed university or institute, preferably in social sciences or public health. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management.

2. Experience in working on HIV prevention, care, support, treatment and sexual and reproductive health programmes with MSM, TG and Hijra populations

3. Experience of working with multiple stakeholders in civil society and the government at different levels

4. Demonstrated knowledge base and documentation skills in relation to gender, sexuality, human rights and HIV/AIDS communication.

5. Good command over English Hindi and Oriya languages (written and spoken). Proficiency in computer usage (including Microsoft Office software and internet).

6. Experience of providing training and technical capacity building support to other organizations, especially those working at the community or grassroots level

7. Ability to work independently and as a team.

8. Willingness to travel extensively in different states and to Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai for planning and implementation of the project activities.

Monthly pay amount: Rs.25,000/- as cost to organization for each person.

An initial contract of one year will be offered, with a renewable option.
