Guest guest
Dear Colleagues I am currently working on a position paper and review on policies, programmes and schemes towards social protection on children orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS (OVCs). You may be aware that Fourth SAARC Ministerial Conference on Children in Colombo on 10 July 2009 proposed to initiated a focus on social protection on children orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS (OVCs). The Secretariat has proposed to review social protection schemes in three countries - Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. I aim to document the various policies and schemes of the government and donors aimed at reaching all vulnerable children. Further I would like to analyse how programmes/policies are implemented, and understand current national trends/ priorities on the types of protection services delivered (social transfers, social insurance, social services, policies). I would be grateful if AIDS INDIA group members from India and the region could share their experiences on this important issue. I look forward to your advise and directions. As next steps, the SAARC Secretariat proposes to organise a roundtable to discuss a regional strategy to initiate action plans for social protection with the SAARC region in early 2011. Thank you and warm regards, Ramesh Ramesh Vaidya e-mail: <dr.r.a.vaidya@...>
