Project Description: The Public Health Foundation of India is assisting a High

Level Expert Group on Universal Health Coverage, appointed by the Government of

India, for which committed research assistance is required.

Job Description: The Research Associate (RA) would report to the team lead for

community, PRI and private sector participation (Dr Kabir Sheikh). The position

will be Delhi-based and may involve some travel within India. The RA is expected

to commit their full time and energies to all activities entailed in the

producing the report.

Specific tasks would include the following:

•Conduct relevant reviews of literature

•Collate and synthesize material from e-consultations

•Conduct liaison with High Level Expert Group, funding partners and contributors

•Assist team members in all activities leading to completion of the report

Personal specifications: Candidates are invited who have:

•A Masters degree (additional weight for MPhil or PhD) in public health,

community health or a related discipline

•A strong interest in health policy and health systems issues in India, and a

commitment to public health goals, health equity and universal health coverage

•Preferred: experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas

related to health: 1) community participation, community accountability, public

private partnerships, regulation and stewardship

•Excellent English-language writing skills and experience of preparing research

reports

•A minimum 2-3 years experience, working with government, civil society and

donors

•Maturity and strong diplomatic skills, and the ability to respond to strict

deadlines

•Ability to work in a team and commitment to producing quality deliverables.
