The Punjab Govt had constituted a COmm headed by Dr Lalli,Deputy Director ICA to

draft Punjab prison and Correctional Services Act 2010.The COmm held a number of

discussion swith various stakeholders,including prison officers,judges,police

officers,lawyers,academicians,ngos etc.

Any legislation to take care of future challenges requires input from concerned

and enlightened groups,/ citizens. SAFE provided a lot of input into the

legal,human rights issues,as also health care and medical facilites. SAFE

President /team ---,gave their input on a whole array of issues ,including

putting provisions for Legal aid, undertrials and testing,treatment and care of

HIV/AIDS affected persons in prisons.
