Guest guest Posted February 2, 2011 Report Share Posted February 2, 2011 HIV-positive level in Amritsar has risen to 6.88 per cent Wed Feb 02 2011, Amritsar The Department of Life Science of BBK DAV College for Women organised a lecture on HIV-AIDS by Dr Pushpa Devi, head of the Department of Microbiology, Government Medical College, Amritsar, on Tuesday. She spoke extensively about it, from symptoms to treatment. " HIV I virus is more prevalent in India as compared to HIV II, which is usually found in China. The number of HIV Positive patients has risen to 6.88 per cent in Amritsar. Its major symptoms include 10 per cent reduction in body weight and simple infections, " she said. Dr Pushpa also talked about anti-retro viral treatment, which is available for HIV Positive patients.
