Guest guest
Deb: you haven't mentioned your daughter's age (maybe in an earlier post and I missed it) but you should have a dentist check out the teeth grinding and perhaps an internist/pediatrician should look for some underlying cause of her requiring so much sleep, if you haven't already. If you trust her rheumy and there are no actual signs of PA, yet, it could be something totally unrelated. Maybe she's anemic. Maybe she's not sleeping " well " (even though she seems to be sleeping for a long time) because - for whatever reason - she's uncomfortable or in some kind of low-level of pain she's not even aware of. Or maybe there's something bothering her that you're unaware of, though that seems unlikely since this has been going on for so long. Maybe a sleep study needs to be done - if they do them with kids - to see just what's happening to her during her sleep. Just some ideas for you to think about because if she seems to be putting in lots of hours sleeping and still cannot get up in time for school, that just doesn't sound quite right. Guest guest
Sorry for the confusion between the two of you ( & Deb). , I don't know a thing about PA in children other than what I've read from others here. Swelling was - I know - a big problem for me at the time I was diagnosed but measures of inflammation like sed rates and CRP seem to be the more telling " test " for adults. Good luck to you in figuring it all out! Joanna Hoelscher
