Guest guest
I've had some foot problems this year. Started in Jan with a very itchy patch on the bottom of one foot (about the siz of half the sole). Intensely, burningly itchy at times. I'd feel like I was scratching with no effect, just seemed to feel worse. Has come and gone for months, but now covers half the sole of the foot. Gets itchier as the day progresses and sometimes wakes me up at night. (I did have a small patch of psoriasis on the sole once and it wasn't like this at all, more like a small hole, but it healed up very quickly with creams). Then one day in Feb I thought I had been bitten by an insect on the big toe on the other foot. Incredibly itchy once again, I scratched so hard I then got a crack in the skin on the top of the toe (about 1/2 inch long) which must have got infected as it took over a month to heal. Very sore. Then two weeks ago I noticed red patches between some toes. Aha, I thought, is it Athletes foot? I have not gone near any swimming pools, or athletic places ever, and haven't stayed in a hotel for a year (where I usually wear flip flops in the shower). Tried antifungal creams for nearly 2 weeks, no effect. Went to a doc today who said it might be a fungus. Didn't sound certain. I said, couldn't we do skin scrapings and test for fungus? No, he wrote a referral for my dermie and said she could do it. I haven't needed a dermie for 2 years now, seems silly to go there for what seems to be a relatively common complaint. Do you think I got this because of the immune suppressing drugs? Maybe I need something stronger than the OTC creams, maybe its harder to cure when you are on MTX + Arava? There are also lots and lots of natural remedies. Salty water, vinegar in water, cinnamon..... Anyone have any suggestions, do you think I should try another ordinary doc, or bother the dermie (who costs a lot more too!!). Thanks!! regards max
Guest guest
Hi Max, I think I might have psoriasis on the soles of my feet but I am unsure, what does it look like on the soles of the feet? The soles of my feet are white, looks like really bad dry skin and it does get itchy at times and I get cracks in the soles of my feet that are painful. My big toe hurts alot too, it is the toenail that hurts but I do not see anything that would cause this. I know I have psoriasis in my toenails, they often break and crack right down the middle of the nail, it doesn't hurt when they break but it looks nasty. I would be interested to know what works on the feet as well. I probably need to see a dermi for my psoriasis. I have heard dovenox works, I have also heard of using olive oil on the feet and putting a bag on the feet to keep the oil from getting on everything, I think I might try that and see if I have an luck.
