Guest guest
Can I ask if anyone gets hot flushes, and is it a possible symptom of psoriatic arthritis? I have a strange mix of symptoms and don't even know if its psoriatic arthritis as I don't have a diagnosis but I do have a lot of the symptoms. I realise the hot flushing might not be a symptom. Its just strange as I'm only in my 30's and still get my period so it seems unlikely its menopause (however i guess it could be?) Its driving me crazy! lol Any ideas? dee oh i also have a thyroid disorder (Hashimoto's.) Thanks!
Guest guest
Well I do have hot flashes... But I began having periods at 8 years old and started having irregular periods and hot flashes last year at 37 years. The doctor is pretty certain its what they call peri menopause. It just means sometime over the next ten years or so I'll go through menopause. As if I needed anything else to deal with! Good Luck! Guest guest
Dee, I have gotten hot flashes. I am 44 and not in menopause either. I get them when I start or stop prednisone. I used to get them before I made a lot of changes to my diet. Cut out flour, dairy, most sugar, caffeine and try to eat as close to natural as possible. I do not have thyroid problems so can't speak to that. I have used progesterone cream and it has helped with some of my pre menstrual symptoms. Guest guest
HI Deb: Hot flashes and only in your 30's, think Peri-menopause, seriously many women develop hot flashes and other menopause related symptoms many years prior to their periods stopping completely. I would think it is the most likely explanation for your symptoms and I would check with your GYN doc. There are many things you can do to help yourself through this time. You know sometimes we sufferers of PsA tend to forget the most likely cause for symptoms and want to attribute everything to our disease or meds. We have to remember that we have other body systems to consider, especially those of us that are women. Good Luck to you. Deanna
Guest guest
Hi Dee, I spent the last four years off and on with hot flashes and assumed it was menopause since everyone else in my office was freezing cold and wearing heavy sweaters. I had a hysterectomy about nine years ago so I didn't have any periods or missed periods to tell me but I'm now 52 so wouldn't be surprised. A couple of months ago I saw a gynecologist for something unrelated. He had a copy of a recent hormone test my family doctor had ordered and informed me that my ovaries were functioning perfectly. I'm still in shock! I suggest you ask your doctor to order a hormone test because that will be able to rule out early menopause and redirect the focus for whatever your diagnosis will be. Hope this helps.
Guest guest
I have hot flashes from menopause but I also get them from prednisone. Just thought I would throw that out there! Eileen
Guest guest
If you have a thyroid disorder, you can't regulate your body temp as well and will have hot flushes. I had to have my taken out last year due to thyroid cancer, so I take alot of Synthroid now. But I am always having sweats now, and I absolutely cannot tolerate the heat in the summer - so I stay in and rack up those electricity bills! Sorry!
