Guest guest
Are you taking folic acid also? Check with your doc, but folic acid for every day except the day you take the MTX is common practice to prevent hair loss and minimize other symptoms. OK - I am now 9 1/2 weeks into 20 MTX a week. It is helping my joint immensely, but I am really feeling very weak and " floaty " . And I get very nauseated if I move around alot. Also, a couple of days ago my scalp started feeling like it is on fire! I even put ice packs on last night. I noticed some hair loss in the shower yesterday. Does this mean I am getting ready to lose my hair? Also - will the weakness and nausea subside? - because, I don't want to go off of it because it is really helping all the arthritis symptoms. HELP???!!! royalalpacas@...
Guest guest
Do you take 20 pills or 20 mgs? I take 20mgs (= 8 pills x 2.5). My rheumatologist says the max dose is 10 pills, 25mgs. I was taking 25mgs for awhile, but he wouldn't go any higher. Becky
Guest guest
Hi Dr. Gladman the head of the psoriatic research clinic recommends taking 5mg. folic acid 6 days a week excluding the day you take MTX,as it is the cheapest and easiest way to cut down on the side affects and you will not overdose on them. I really notice a difference when I take them regularly,I do forget sometimes. I also find that the cheapest place to buy them is a Costco, Kirkland's 365 tabs of 1mg. for $3.39 Canadian,so must be around the same in the states. Hang in there and I think the folic acid should help. Marilyn
