Guest guest
Bummer for the rest of us. I was hoping there would be a listing of some sort for docs that side with us on the topic. I am looking into changing peds- soon. I vaccinated my 2 year old according to the mandate and am looking into getting past it with Texas requirements with the baby I am carrying now. My current ped is soooo by the book pro-vaccinating it sickens me now. She is the one that talked me into giving the rotovirus to our son....2 days before they recalled it! We knew before her office did. This looks promising! Anyone in Texas should go read this site I came across.... http://www.geocities.com/titus2birthing/VacRefuse.html I am not advocating their religious aspect of the info listed here but it hleps with those of us trying to get around the laws governing exemptions from vaccinations. I would LOVE to receive onfo concerning any peds in the DFW area that are pro-choice on vaccinations. Also, I am looking into breaking free from the medical crap I grew up on so I am completely ignorant to holistic healing and natural healing....so any books on the subject any one wants to refer????- Thanks! Guest guest
- where do you live in TX. I have some friends in Denton who don't vax. I can ask her who her Dr. is. A good book to help you first break free from the medical chains that bind you are " Confessions of a Medical Heritic " and " How to Raise a health Child in Spite of Your Pediatrition " (or something like that) by Dr. Mendehlson. (She gave me my first lesson in non-vaxing when I was about 15 or 16 which was a very fertile time for such ideas to grow. I am lucky I was in good hands or I could have grown some really bad stuff. Huh, they always told me those were important. Well, they lied. Oh. and I knew then I probably wouldn't have my own kids vaxxed. Guest guest
I am in Fort Worth which is not far from Denton. I would love to hear referrals to docs. We haven't been sick enough to have my 2 yo in other than for his shots so the drive wouldn't be a problem. Maybe they could even refer someone on this side of town if they are familiar with other docs with similar philosophies. Love your form of acquiring the vax knowledge! Isn't it great how relaxed she was/is in parenting! Thanks Re: Feeling frustrated - where do you live in TX. I have some friends in Denton who don't vax. I can ask her who her Dr. is. Guest guest
Well, thank God you ditched that " doctor " . What a lack of education...I would have tried to kill her if she had done that to my son!! Anyway, when I was looking for a doctor that would accept our insurance, I just called all the naturopathic, and osteopathic doctors in our area, wrote down what insurances they took, decided what doctor I wanted, and got one of those insurances. We own a business, and therefore have to get our own insurance anyway, which makes it easier for us... Guest guest
Do you have a deductible? What about shopping around for a different insurance company? There seem to be many independent companies. I used to take my kids in,too, just for the facts. But I weathered a lot of harrassment. She seemed way overboard though and I would report her! So now I don't take my kids in. We go to a chiropractor. If the kids are really sick and don't seem to be passing whatever they have, I ask my husband. Usually he doesn't even notice their illness!(Denial after working with whiney people all day who want work excuses and drugs he won't prescribe.) Most hospitals have a law they have to treat you, even without insurance. Even without money. Chances are you'll be stuck with whoever is on duty and they may be able to contact your doc. My husband is 1 of 3 doctors in the town who still sees his own patients in the hospital and is consulted about their care if in ER...other docs leave it to current staff so there is no guarantee your doc will even know you've been there! My sympathies are with you as this must be very frustrating...as you stated! I know I had difficulties, also, until I met my hubby. Guest guest
I used to live in Dallas. While there we went to Childrens. There is a clinic I think it was called the RPP clinic. I was one of many mothers there that refused vaxes. They had no problem with it. After the doc that we saw there graduated, we also saw a Dr. Dennis Heald at 6750 N. MacArthur Ste. 100 Irving, TX. I explained my position with him and he even singed a medical exemption for me. Hope this helps too. Dina Woodbridge, VA. Re: Feeling frustrated - where do you live in TX. Guest guest
, The only thing I can think of is perhaps you can speak with one of the naturopathic docs and ask them if they will consider becoming Empire providers. Although I'm not sure how that whole system works, it may be worth a try to get them covered (as long as they are an M.D. and not just certified). For what it's worth (very little, I'm sure), I'm there with you. We have Blue Cross in Arlington and had it in Richmond, VA, when I was pregnant. They're *terrible* with coverage and I was on the phone with them *at least* twice a week during my pregnancy trying to figure out why they hadn't paid claims they were supposed to have paid. They lost my payment/paperwork two months in a row and still hadn't paid those claims six months later, etc. etc. I was working 30 hrs. a week and in my last semester of college and my *insurance*, of all things, was the most stressful part of my life. Go figure. I'm just crossing my fingers and toes about the new ped we're going to see on Tuesday :-( Anyway, rambling... best of luck to you Amber Arlington, VA kalima wrote: > Ok I have been online again searching and searching for a pediatric > doctor for my 5 kids. Guest guest
Sheri, Thank you so much for the names. :0) I also found the names of some MD who do alternative medicine on a site for Connecticut holistic health practitioners. Just in case you need it or someone else does here is the site. http://anopendoor.com/HHCT/hhdir.htm My insurance does cover Chiropractic care and I am thinking maybe this an option for us. I have heard people who have found great doctors this way so maybe this is my next step to check into. It is amazing to me that there are doctors out there who want to circumcise boys. This is honestly the first one I have run into who was this misinformed but she sure did now the vaccine concerns I had and was ok with it which just confused me more. Guest guest
Laurie, A lot of people in my husbands office hate the insurance so we are hoping that with some new growth that is about to happen we will get another company. *fingers crossed* How do you like using a chiropractor? My insurance will cover this (go figure) and I was thinking this might be an option. I have never seen one in my whole life so this would be new to me. My sympathies are with you as this must be very frustrating...as you stated! I know I had difficulties, also, until I met my hubby. I am not a medical doctor, nor do I portray one on t.v.! Guest guest
..love the chiro! If you believe that the spinal cord encases the nervous system that is in charge of all the body's finctionings, including the immune system, then it makes sense to keep it in alignment so that everything is functioning as well as it can(that is in layman's terms...a chiro. might be able to explain it better). We use a chiro. for heartburn, earaches, colds, and general maintenance. That is our "well-baby" checkup! For more serious problems, like, I don't know!!! I would consult my husband but I am leaning more toward homeopathy. We haven't had anything more serious than joint aches and use a natural supplemaent and vitamins. Also am searching for more organic foods. Might even switch personal products! And all these ideas I read from this board! Way too cool... Guest guest
, I brought my 2 unvaxed boys (2 and 4 yrs.)to a new pediatrician yesterday. She did not give us a hard time about them being unvaxed. The only vax that that she seemed to want for them was tetanus. She just said to think about it. It went very well. I also haven't taken them for well visits for almost 2 years because of the way I was treated at my previous pediatricians. I am happy to have found her. Her name is Sophia Leonida, she is in Stratford, CT. I also take my son to a naturopath for his asthma in Milford, her name is Battalocchi. We have Anthem blue cross for insurance and it covers both doctors. Hope this helps. Stefanie(trumbull,Ct) mom to
Guest guest
Stefanie, Thank you so much for the pediatrician name. I will have to check her out.:0) We had Anthem years ago and it was great! I was so shocked to find out not all Blue Cross programs are the same. Our plan is a NY plan and while we can use it in any state it only covers approved docs. And they think natropathic doctors are bunk. :0( Mom to 5 Connecticut *who is really behind on the posts* > , > I brought my 2 unvaxed boys (2 and 4 yrs.)to a new > pediatrician yesterday. Guest guest
Laurie, OH that does sound interesting and sort of in line with some things I am reading about in Eastern medicines (India). Guest guest
, I am so sorry that your family went through this. My 11 mo old son is also uncirc'd and will remain so. My husband and my youngest brother are also uncirc'd and none of these guys have had ANY kind of trouble! I used to live in son, CT and my mom took us to a homeopath in N. Grosvenordale. In fact, my parents & brothers live in West Virginia now and my mom still calls this homeopath for her ailments. I know he's probably an hour or so from Fairfield, but I figured it couldn't hurt to give you his name. I don't have his #, I'm sorry. His name is Dr. Shevin and he is located in North Grosvenordale, CT. My parents pay out-of-pocket for him, but my mom swears up and down that it's worth every cent. She also says it's not as expensive as one might think. Personally, I liked him. He was very calm, quiet, and had a non-imposing type of personality. Check him out, if you want. Hope all is well for your family. ~ San , TX > Feeling frustrated > > > > Ok I have been online again searching and searching for a pediatric > > doctor for my 5 kids. Guest guest
Joyce  I want you to know that you are not alone. That's what we are here for because we can understand each other when were not sure if anyone else can understand us. I know it helps me a lot to know that I have a place where I can go and talk to people who know what I'm going though. May you have a Merry Christmas too. Guest guest
Joyce, All of us here understand where you are coming from. You are not alone. I have learned to accept that my family doesn't understand this disease. I do feel isolated and alone at times too. The worst thing about this disease is the exhaustion, not to mention pain. I hope things get better for you. " cranefamily6 " <cranefamily6@...>
Guest guest
Joyce, I think everyone has those days. People don't understand. It is really only possible to really understand something that you've actually been trough. I know people attempt to understand, just like we do with their problems. But, the fact is, we can't really " get it " unless we've " got it " and we surely don't want anyone elses problems and also don't want them to have ours. Remember everyone is in a different place in their life. Some people feel lost in even trying to understand, there are some who just are so " within themselves " that they don't try and for those so blessed to try to " get in our shoes with us " , pray from them, praise them and hang onto them. Hang in there, you'll have better days. I feel so awful some times. Then, I go to work and see all these people who have so much more wrong with them than I do, it doesn't help my pain but it does put it all into perspective. God bless you. Prayer helps, and it helps a great deal. I don't know what I would do without the avenue of prayer and God on my side. Sherry
Guest guest
Hi Joyce, I think that most of us have been through what you are going through (and have every right to do so) or we wouldn't be here. I have had to go to part-time and I am not as helpful nor as active around the house as I would like to be. It is just the way it is, and I must accept it as such. Take care, Brent
Guest guest
WE all TOTALLY understand Joyce!! It is not one bit non-appropriate to make known how you feel to those who understand, empathize, and care. God bless you and keep on keepin on! in Ga. Guest guest
Hi, It is appropriate. I'm 52. I feel the same frustration for the last 25 years. I can add may more reasons to why am I angry or frustrated. Well, this is our life reality. You know, in Hebrew psoriasis is called " sapachat " = one, or some, which is attached to one or some other. in our case " attached to our bodies " . So, it is attached. To stay forever. Me. Being sometime bitter, I say that finally, we will win the struggle against PsA. " a second after.... " arie
