Well, I called my rheumy who saw me right away and he thinks that its a Baker's

cyst which can mimic a clot in your leg. The fluid around your knee herniates

and then that can rupture and the fluid leaks down between the two major muscles

of your calf and causes pain and sometimes bruise at the ankle. This can occur

in people with arthritis more frequently - I'm assuming because of inflammation

and increased fluid on the knee. He said sometimes it is so severe that people

have to lay in bed. Luckily mine is not that way. It does feel better to

elevate it and apply heat so that is what I am doing.

As for the petechiae, he said that could be low platelets but he said to just

watch that since I am not having any major bleeding problems. I have had some

minor nosebleeds but nothing really bad. So hopefully it will resolve on its

own.

Thanks!

Ann

Ann,

A simple cbc . . . blood count would show you and your dr if your platelets are

low. My sister has ideopathicthrobocytopenia purpura(ITP). It is now in

remission and she almost died numerous times from bleeds. I would not want to

scare you but I would get him to check a blood count to make sure.

Hope you are better real soon.

Sincerely,

Vickey
