Guest guest
I think I may have inflammation in my eyes and lungs due to PsA, I have shortness of breath frequently. I was diagnosed with allergies in 2005 and asthma by an allergy doctor in 2006 but know other doctor has been able to confirm the asthma diagnosis and no history of asthma exists in my family. I have frequent burning in my eyes, some redness and I have been told by an eye doctor that my eyes were swollen during an exam before I was diagnosed with PsA. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on how to proceed with this to confirm what I suspect? What can I expect if I am right and what kind of treatment is there? Guest guest
Re: Sjogrens Syndrome I too have it. I had a schirmers test of the eye along with an extensive look at the corneas that revealed that the dryness had caused some dry patches on the cornea. Besides the usual drops and wearing special glasses, I also got punctal occlusion. They helped a long time until they fell out and then I had to pay out of pocket for another set with my insurance co policies!. ! They are treated like contact lenses which is ridiculous. Sjogrens is quite unusual with PA my doc said I am the only one he has ever had in all the years of his practice. It is much more common with RA. - you said: You can have more than one autoimmune disease at a time. I have PA, but also was diagnosed with Sjögren's syndrome. My eyes are constantly dry and feel like someone has dumped grit in them, with occasional blurring, burning, and redness. The Sjögren's syndrome was confirmed by a positive Ro antibody test in the past, and a positive Schirmer test at the ophthalmologists. My dry mouth symptoms are much less severe, and I have never had a lip biopsy. Alternatively, if you do have respiratory symptoms, it is possible that if you have allergies or asthma, your eye symptoms could be related to that as well. It would be worth checking both alternatives out instead of assuming it's all related to PA.
