Guest guest
les , I feel so bad for you and all that you are going through. You need an advocate . You need to get in touch with the department of social services where you live . I don't know anything about Texas where you are now . There must be a department for people in need . You have been through so much and seem to have fallen through the cracks. Your hospital must have a department of social services and a social worker on staff . You must try to contact them . There is help. Do not give up . You are right ..you are a good person . The bad things that happened to you as a child are not your fault . There are child abuse survivor organization and there must be one in your state. But for now you must try and get disability . Have you contacted the social security administration and ask for them to recommend a lawyer for you . Most of them will take you for free an d then take part of the settlement when you get it . You may be entitled to retroactive benefits . If you get turned down then you must appeal . [That is common ] YOU need disability . You are disabled . There is help out there . Try to get a phone book and look in there . call different hospitals and ask for dept of social services at the hospital . You will get help Do not give up. cathy from ma
Guest guest
It seems almost unbelievable that you've been unable to get disability. I know Texas is tough on a lot of things but hadn't heard this one!!!!! Someone suggested getting an attorney and there are some who will take your case on a contingency basis and then get paid by taking a portion of your disability payments for a period of time. You might also look in the yellow pages and see what you can find in terms of legal aid. Virtually every major city as one or more social service agencies or legal aid offices who provide help for those who need it. Your Mom may well be embarrassed by what happened when you were a kid but it's not like it's going on the front pages of the newspapers if she helps you by being completely honest in your attempt to get what you clearly seem to be entitled to in terms of financial assistance. Good luck . . . .. P.S. The symptoms of withdrawal from narcotics can be pretty severe and can be physical as well as mental/emotional. Even if you tapered off a lot of them, if you've now stopped altogether that could be contributing to your pain. In turn, the pain and the horror of what you're going thru could also be contributing to your breathing problems. I don't want to sound like a Pollyanna but if you haven't tried it, you might benefit from trying some simple deep breathing/meditation to help calm you a little. I'm not very good at it and have never gotten to that deeper state where you're almost in a trance, but I know that meditation style breathing (breathing in as deeply and slowly as you can so that your stomach actually expands because the air has reached the bottom of your lungs) really helps calm me when I'm upset. Try not to let your mind wander but concentrate on either a single, soothing word (anything will work - doesn't have to be a mantra) or even just counting slowly while your inhaling/exhaling will help.
