Guest guest
Diet response: I have had this disease for 14 years, since I was 28. I am also a nurse practitioner. I have tried absolutely anything and everything....diet changes, blood type diets, gluten free diets, avoiding nightshade veggies, supplements and combinations of every imaginable kind PLUS (of course) every Western medicine drug out there. I am now considered a non-responder. I really think if I would have treated it more aggressively earlier on, maybe I would still respond. I don't know but what I do know is that I have had substantial joint and tendon damage over these 14 years. So IMHO, I wouldn't drag my feet or be afraid of the meds (obviously respect them and do the appropriate lab monitoring for them), but knowing what I know now and what I have been through in the last 7 years especially, I would be more afraid of the disease than the treatment. As for the lack of skin disease, my doc (plus several others over the years) tell me the PsA can present up to 10 years before you ever get even a tiny spot of psoriasis. Anyway, this was in no way medical advice...just my experience as a patient. Rae
