Guest guest
I just went thru a bout of this. I am 46 yrs old RN- started having severe left shoulder pain- blew it off for a few weeks- then it cam around into my chest, I was short of breath and the pain was so severe I thought I was gonna die. I really thought I was having a heart attack. My MD says costochondritis, Ive never heard of it and neither have any of my colleagues, but it is listed as an accompanier of psoriatic arthritis. I went on a Medrol-dose pack and am still sore and fatigued but oh so much better. Janice
Guest guest
Regarding my last post, I do not have chest pain just shortness of breath, many mornings I wake up gasping for air. I am currently taking prednisone 10mg once a day, Humira I suffer from PTSD and Depression. I take an antidepressant and have just been put on depakote to help with the side effects of the prednisone. I am in pain, exhausted and I feel really alone, my husband does not understand and gets mad when I am on the computer looking up information on PsA. Guest guest
I was actually diagnosed with the costochondritis before I was officially diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. I've had it flare up probably 4 or 5 times since then. I found that I have to be really careful when going between temperature extremes, that is one thing that seems to trigger it for me. Guest guest
You know... temperature may be a real issue. It seems I get my flares when the seasons change too. HUMMM.... you never think of stuff til someone else says it.
Guest guest
I haven't connected the temperature part of the equation- but have been under alot of stress. I did start Savella- drug for fibromyalgia- and side effect is hot flashes and I have been plagued with them. Luckily the flashes are only bad around the time of my " monthly gift " because the medication is wonderful. Janice
Guest guest
> > Has anyone experienced Costochondritis, inflammation of the cartilage in the the breastbone? If so where there any specific herbs/supplements that helped to eliminate the pain? I am currently on the Buhner core protocol and the pain has subsided a lot since I first began, but it does flare up and cause discomfort. I'm not sure about the exact condition, but inflammation of the breastbone and rib(bone)s is one of the most common signs of (chronic) Lyme IMHO, or maybe I should say that it is a common herx reaction. I remember how it flared badly during my ABX treatments, every few days in a different spot. I heard the same from other chronic patients who were being treated with ABX. During my Buhner treatment this has gradually faded and nowadays the breastbone/ribbone pains are very rare for me (unlike pain in the joints that is still present somewhat).
