Guest guest
, I am sorry to read that you have something else to add to your list. I have been reading your notes but do not think I have responded. You certainly have your hands full. I pray that things will soon get better for you and that you will have some definitive answers. There is nothing more difficult and painful then to watch your child be in pain and not be able to help them. Veri & Jaye 13 poly nosebleeds I know that everytime we go to the rheumy's they ask has he had any nosebleeds in the last week and ask us 2-3 times if we are sure. Ok our answer is always no. Well starting yesterday Caleb had a small nosebleed, today he had 2 small nosebleeds then just a little while ago he had the rushin flood, it took almost 15 mintues to get it stopped. I was just wondering what the realvance of nosebleeds was with JRA or is there any connection. HE goes back on Wednesday to the rheumy and the eye dr in the am. I am just concerned since this is somethng new he also is complianing of his elbow hurting. He has been off of his naproxyn for a few days now. HE does not have any cough/congestion or runny nose or facial tnederness all of the things you would think of that would explain a bloody nose......ahhh to add to our saga. Guest guest
: If you live in a cold climate nosebleeds can happen when the air is really dry. My son (no arthritis) gets the same nosebleeds you described. We keep a humidifier running in his room at night during the winter and helps immensely. Our ped also suggested saline nasal spray if the humidifier alone does not work. I would mention it at the appointment and ask what the connection could be. You certainly have a lot on your plate and I truly feel for you. I also know the feeling of what now??? Guest guest
My guess is the nosebleed Question might be becuse they are making sure he isn't having platelett problems Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T nosebleeds I know that everytime we go to the rheumy's they ask has he had any nosebleeds in the last week and ask us 2-3 times if we are sure. Guest guest
is right. It might indicate platelet issues. Guest guest
- just to be on the safe side - I would take him to doctor as soon as you can. He should have his platelet count check. Guest guest
I've had nosebleeds all my life too. Fortunately they've never been as severe as what you describe; I'm really sorry to hear that you go through this frequently! Mine are more the annoying " drip, drip, drip " kind which are controllable but cause me to sniff a lot and have to use a lot of Kleenex. My youngest daughter, Cheryl, has had much worse problems with nosebleeds since she was little; I remember many times being called to her school to pick her up in the nurse's office because she had just had a gusher. Chronic nosebleeds can be associated with autoimmune diseases such as lupus and celiac disease (I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease and Cheryl has lupus) as well as other AIs not as well known, such as Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome and Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia. Have you discussed these episodes with your doctor since you were diagnosed with liver disease? Remember if you have one AI you're far more likely to develop another (I have seven so far). JoAnn > > Hello: > Does anyone have frequent nosebleeds of varying degrees of severity/duration? I've had nosebleeds all my life so I'm really not sure if there is a connection between nosebleeds and liver disease. > I ruined many pillowcases during childhood because I had no idea I was bleeding while sleeping (or,if I did, I was too tired to get out of a warm, cozy bed and try to clean myself up or ask for parental help). I spent more than a few recesses all alone, except for the company of ice packs, in the school office. I never really went to the doctor as a child, and because I threw tantrums, my mom pretty much let me off the hook. Who knows? Maybe I've had liver problems all along. > Even in college and grad school, I've had the unfortunate experience of bleeding from the snout during exams (well, maybe it was fortunate in that perhaps professors let me off a bit easier; they usually did give me extra time to finish tests without any supervision!). > Anyway, I still get these " bloody " annoying nosebleeds. It's awful when you don't have time to patiently wait it out (if you don't properly stop the bleeding, chances are that it will bleed again with any type of activity or movement)or when it happens when you're working with the public. In fact, I had a massive nosebleed a few weeks ago when I was picking up the liver meds that I'm oh-so-fond of at the pharmacy. I was mortified--it was all over my hands and face and I had no other choice but to sit pitifully in the corner of the pharmacy with the very " luxurious " brown institutional paper towels provided by the unconcerned pharmacist. Some of my nosebleeds produce that thick, dark, gooey, clotted, jelly-like blood. Ewww. I hope you've enjoyed my vivid descriptions. I try to add " color " to the lives of friends and fellow fighters of liver disease. Sorry if I've " leaked " too much information or " blown " the problem out of proportion. >
Guest guest
For those with nosebleeds, make sure to use the correct procedure: DON'T lean back! Instead, lean forward. Prop your elbows on your knees. Press firmly on the affected nostril for as long as possible. If a cool, wet cloth is available, use it; it helps some. Learning backward drains blood down your throat, which can cause stomach upsets. Pressing on the nostril stanches the flow of blood and allows healing to begin. Guest guest
> > My son is experiencing constant nosebleeds. They are very light. It is a continual problem all day long but it doesn't flow out. It pretty much gathers in his nose and he blows it out periodically during the day. He has never had a nosebleed before this. > Any idea what is going on here? +++Hi Darlene B. Since your son has been vomiting a lot lately, it may be causing little blood vessels in his nose to repture a little. Bee
Guest guest
I would like to know if anyone has had trouble with chronic nosebleeds on Humira? For the past two months, I am getting horrible nosebleeds at least twice a week. Wake up at night with them and even had to go to the ER once to stop the bleeding. Curious if this has any relevance to PA or Humira? Thank you.
